Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec CN3 / CN4 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (318-016-001)
This 3.7V 3600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the Intermec CN3, CN3E, CN4, and CN4E rugged handheld barcode scanners. It matches the original voltage, capacity, and connector configuration for these models. Capacity listed is from product data — 3600mAh (13.32Wh).
- CN3 / CN4 platform compatibility: The CN3E and CN4E share the same battery bay geometry, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol as the base CN3 and CN4. One pack covers all four variants because the voltage rail and connector pinout are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a CN3 and CN4E unit. The BMS initialised cleanly on both devices, charge acceptance was confirmed via the cradle LED, and the scan trigger drew current without tripping low-voltage cutoff at any point during the test cycle.
- First-shift preparation on the dock: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before deploying it on a pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — starting a shift on a partially charged new pack can cause the BMS to trip on the first heavy burst.
Cradle showing a charging error with a new pack
The CN3 and CN4 cradles use spring-loaded dock contacts that corrode or accumulate film over time. A new battery pack with clean contacts against a dirty dock creates enough contact resistance to confuse the cradle's charge controller. The controller reads the resistance as a fault rather than a normal charge load. Wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and confirm the charge LED changes state within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
On the CN3 and CN4, the 802.11 radio and the scan engine draw current simultaneously during a rapid-fire scan sequence. If the cell voltage sags below the radio's minimum operating threshold mid-burst, the wireless stack drops the access point association before the battery protection circuit trips. This is not a firmware bug — it is a voltage sag issue tied to cell condition. Charge the pack fully to 4.2V before the shift and confirm the device reconnects automatically after the next full charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CN3 scanner won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — the laser still fires but nothing registers. What's wrong?
The CN3's scan engine needs the cell above a minimum voltage before the decoder can process a read — if you installed the new pack and went straight to scanning, the cell may not have had enough charge to sustain both the laser and decoder simultaneously. This is not a faulty battery. Place the scanner in the cradle, charge it fully, then retry — a full cell eliminates the voltage sag that kills the decode step even when the laser appears active.
My CN3 feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift. Is something wrong with the new battery?
The CN3 housing is compact and has limited thermal mass, so sustained scan plus 802.11 radio draw in an enclosed grip will generate heat — that is normal under continuous use. What matters is whether the device is warm or hot to the touch and whether it shuts down. If it shuts down, the BMS is hitting its thermal cutoff threshold, which means the workload is too sustained for the ambient temperature. Rotate the scanner with a second unit during high-volume shifts or allow a 10-minute rest between extended scan runs.
The CN3 cradle charged the original battery fine, but it's stopping the charge early on this new pack. The LED goes green after only a short time. What's happening?
Early green on the cradle LED usually means the charge controller is seeing a voltage that it interprets as "full" — this can happen if the dock contacts are dirty and the controller is reading a false voltage rather than the actual cell state. Clean the dock contacts and the pack contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner, and watch whether the LED cycles back to charging amber within a minute. If it does, the pack was not actually full — let it complete the full charge before pulling it from the cradle.
