Fits Kenz Cardico ECG-601 electrocardiograph; replaces OEM part 10HR-AAU.
12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full diagnostic runtime on a single charge cycle.
Connector mates flush to the ECG-601 battery slot with alignment tab; no adapter needed.
We cycled this cell on bench with the ECG-601 firmware load — BMS accepted the pack after first full charge without fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle uninterrupted; Ni-MH packs require one full charge-discharge before clinical use to pass the medical device BMS verification.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kenz Cardico ECG-601 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (10HR-AAU)

This 12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery replaces part number 10HR-AAU in the Kenz Cardico ECG-601 electrocardiograph. It fits both the ECG-601 and Cardico 601 variants — same housing, same connector, same voltage rail. Capacity matches the original specification at 24Wh.

  • ECG-601 and Cardico 601 compatibility: Both model designations share the same internal power architecture, BMS handshake protocol, and physical connector. One battery covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the ECG-601 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, completed its verification handshake, and reported state-of-charge correctly after the first full cycle.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting the battery, let the ECG-601 complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this phase triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Device not completing boot sequence on new battery

The ECG-601 runs a startup self-test that checks cell voltage against a minimum threshold before releasing the boot sequence. A new Ni-MH cell arriving partially discharged from storage can sit just below that threshold, causing the device to stall or loop at the boot screen. This is a BMS gate, not a hardware fault. Charge the battery fully before the first installation — the BMS needs to see the cell at or above 13.2V to clear the boot check.

Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge

The ECG-601 BMS compares internal resistance and discharge curve against stored OEM cell parameters. A new cell behaves differently from a conditioned one — higher internal resistance in the first few cycles causes the BMS to read available capacity conservatively and trip the low-battery alarm early. This is not a faulty battery. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the BMS recalibrates its capacity estimate. The alarm clears once the cell's resistance profile matches expected values, typically within two full cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ECG-601 shows a low battery warning straight after the replacement charged overnight — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The ECG-601 BMS flags low battery based on internal resistance, not just voltage — a new Ni-MH cell has higher resistance in its first few cycles, which makes the BMS underestimate available capacity. Run one full charge-discharge cycle and the BMS recalibrates. The alarm clears once the cell's discharge curve matches the expected profile, usually within two cycles.

The ECG-601 will not power on after the replacement battery sat unused for several weeks — what's wrong?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge in storage, and if the battery voltage dropped below the ECG-601's BMS recovery threshold it will refuse to boot. Connect the battery to the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before attempting to power on — the BMS requires a minimum voltage input before it releases the power-on sequence. If the charger shows no activity initially, leave it connected for 30 minutes, as some chargers apply a trickle current to recover deeply discharged Ni-MH cells before switching to full charge. Once voltage recovers above 12V, normal charging and boot behaviour resumes.

The ECG-601 is shutting off unexpectedly during patient examinations — could this be the new battery?

Yes, this is a known first-cycle behaviour with Ni-MH replacements in medical devices. The ECG-601 draws a heavier load during active recording than during standby, and a new cell not yet through its conditioning phase has less headroom under that load — voltage sags under the load spike and the BMS triggers a protection cutoff. Complete 10 full charge-discharge cycles before relying on this battery in clinical use to allow the cells to reach their rated capacity under real load conditions. Do not use the battery for patient examinations until the device completes its power-on self-test without interruption after each of those cycles.
