The Defigard 3002 will not power on after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for several weeks — what happened?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and the Defigard 3002 BMS has a minimum recovery threshold of approximately 10.5V — below that, the BMS will not initiate a boot sequence. Place the battery on charge for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before attempting to power the device. If the charger accepts the pack and completes the cycle, the device will power on normally at the next attempt.

The Defigard 3002 IH shuts off unexpectedly during a procedure even though the battery indicator showed adequate charge — what causes this?

In the first ten cycles, a fresh Ni-MH pack has higher internal resistance under the sustained load the Defigard 3002 IH draws during active imaging. That resistance causes a voltage sag that crosses the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold even when the state-of-charge indicator still reads mid-range.
