Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Koehler Lighthawk LED / Lighthawk Vision LED — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9B-1962-1)
This is a 7.4V, 7800mAh (57.72Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Koehler Lighthawk LED and Lighthawk Vision LED flashlights. It replaces OEM part number 9B-1962-1. Compatible models include the 07712, 07732, and 14 additional Lighthawk variants sharing the same voltage rail and cell format.
- Lighthawk LED platform fit: The Lighthawk LED and Vision LED share the same 7.4V two-cell pack format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. That consistency across the 07712, 07732, and extended model range is why one cell format covers the full lineup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the Lighthawk LED driver. The BMS held cell balancing across both cells throughout, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no false shutoffs during normal draw.
- Multi-cell replacement discipline: This pack houses two cells. If you are swapping one pack in a dual-battery Lighthawk configuration, replace both packs at the same time from the same production batch. Pairing a new pack with a partially degraded one lets the weaker pack drain first, which forces it into repeated deep discharge under high-current turbo draw — that accelerates cell failure in the older pack.
Lighthawk LED dimming before the battery indicator shows low
The Lighthawk's LED driver uses brownout protection to step output down before the battery voltage actually hits the low-battery threshold shown on any indicator. When cell voltage drops under sustained turbo draw, the driver reduces current to the LED to protect itself — the light dims even though the indicator has not triggered. This is normal driver behaviour, not a battery defect. If you see it, switch to a lower output mode. The driver will hold stable output for longer at reduced current draw.
Turbo mode runtime significantly shorter than standard mode — what is happening
Turbo mode on the Lighthawk LED draws five to ten times the current of standard mode. At that draw rate, the 7800mAh capacity depletes proportionally faster, and cell voltage sags under load — which can also trigger the driver's brownout step-down earlier. This is not a faulty battery; it is the physics of high-current draw on any lithium-ion cell. To extend time between charges, use turbo in short bursts and drop to a lower mode for sustained illumination. Check cell voltage after a long turbo session — a healthy pack should recover above 7.0V within a few minutes of rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Lighthawk LED is flickering between modes even though the battery was just charged — what causes that?
The driver is cycling because cell voltage is sagging under load, even if the pack was recently charged. A degraded or deeply discharged cell may show a full surface charge but drop below the driver's brownout threshold as soon as current draw increases. Check the resting voltage across the pack — it should read at or above 8.2V after a full charge. If it reads below 7.5V at rest, the pack has lost capacity and needs replacement.
One side of my dual-battery Lighthawk configuration drains noticeably faster than the other — is one pack faulty?
Usually this is a mismatch issue, not a defect. If one pack is older than the other, the degraded pack holds less usable capacity and reaches its low-voltage cutoff sooner, making it appear to drain faster. The newer pack compensates by drawing more heavily on itself, which accelerates its degradation too. Replace both packs simultaneously from the same batch — mismatched packs in a dual configuration will always produce uneven drain under high-current draw.
The Lighthawk won't turn on after sitting unused for several months — how do I recover the battery?
Extended storage allows lithium-ion cells to self-discharge below the BMS's minimum re-initialisation voltage. When this happens, the protection circuit locks out the pack and the light won't power on at all. Place the pack on charge and leave it connected for at least two to three hours — many chargers can push enough current through to wake the BMS even if the light shows no response at first. If the pack reaches 7.4V and the flashlight still won't power on, check the charger connection and confirm the charging port on the light is clean and making solid contact.
