Fits Koehler Lighthawk LED flashlight, replaces OEM part 9B-1962-1.
7.4V, 5200mAh capacity delivers full brightness output across all driver modes.
Cylindrical Li-ion cell with flat positive terminal; seats directly into tube housing.
Bench testing showed clean voltage curve under sustained draw; BMS engaged protection at cutoff without premature shutdown.
If the flashlight dims before the low-battery indicator appears, switch to standard mode — turbo draw at low voltage triggers driver brownout protection, which is normal end-of-discharge behavior.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Koehler Lighthawk LED Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9B-1962-1)

This is a 7.4V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement for the Koehler Lighthawk LED and Lighthawk Vision LED flashlights. It fits a broad range of Koehler torch models including the 07712 and 07732. The OEM part number is 9B-1962-1.

  • Lighthawk platform compatibility: The Lighthawk LED and Vision LED share a common 7.4V dual-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. That shared platform is why one battery covers all models in this line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery on Lighthawk-platform torches and confirmed the BMS negotiates correctly across turbo, high, and low driver modes without false low-voltage cutoffs at normal operating temperatures.
  • Multi-cell replacement timing: This pack contains two Li-ion cells in series. If your light uses more than one of these packs, replace all packs at the same time from the same production batch. Mixing a fresh pack with a partially degraded one puts unequal load on the weaker pack under high-current turbo draw, accelerating cell stress in the older unit.

Turbo mode cutting out long before the battery shows low

Turbo mode on Lighthawk-platform torches can pull 5–10 times the current of standard mode. As the battery ages and internal resistance rises, voltage sags under that load and the driver's brownout threshold triggers — stepping the light down before the state-of-charge indicator registers a problem. This is the driver protecting the LED array, not a gauge error. A fresh 5200mAh pack with lower internal resistance sustains the voltage rail long enough for turbo to run full cycles.

Flashlight cycling through modes on its own near end of charge

Mode-cycling near the bottom of a charge cycle happens when pack voltage drops close to the driver's minimum input threshold. The driver briefly loses regulation, resets, and restarts in its default mode — repeating until you manually switch to low. This is not a firmware fault. It is the driver protecting itself from undervoltage. When it starts cycling, switch to low mode immediately and charge the pack; the BMS should accept charge once resting voltage is above 6.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Lighthawk stays on turbo for a while then suddenly drops to a much dimmer output — is the battery failing?

That step-down is the driver's brownout protection activating, not a switch malfunction. Turbo mode pulls significantly more current than other modes, and as a battery ages its internal resistance rises, causing voltage to sag under load even when the gauge still reads high. A new 9B-1962-1 pack with lower internal resistance will hold the voltage rail steady long enough to sustain turbo output through a full discharge cycle. If the same step-down happens quickly with a fresh pack, check the contact springs in the battery compartment for corrosion.

I replaced one battery pack in my Lighthawk kit but the new one is draining much faster than the other — what's happening?

Mixing a new 5200mAh pack with a partially degraded one puts them in unequal electrical states. Under high-current turbo draw, the weaker pack hits its low-voltage cutoff first, forcing the fresh pack to carry more load than it should. Over repeated cycles this accelerates degradation in the newer pack too. Replace both packs simultaneously from the same production batch and the load will share evenly across cells.

The Lighthawk flickers and cycles through modes on its own — what causes that and how do I stop it?

This happens when pack voltage drops below the driver's minimum input threshold near the end of a discharge. The driver loses regulation momentarily, resets to its default mode, and repeats until you intervene. Switch the torch to low mode immediately to reduce current draw and stop the cycling. Then charge the pack fully — the BMS will accept a charge once resting voltage recovers above 6.0V.
