Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera KX2 / KOI — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TXBAT10040)
This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Kyocera KX2 and KOI smartphones. It replaces OEM part number TXBAT10040 and restores power to phones where the original cell has degraded or failed to hold a charge. Voltage and physical form factor match the factory specification.
- KX2 and KOI compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pin-out, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across both, so one cell fits either device without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence on KX2 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V with no thermal events recorded.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge controller starts pushing higher current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the KX2 after a cell swap
The KX2 fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell is installed, the IC's internal model no longer reflects actual cell voltage under load. At peak demand — modem transmit bursts or screen brightness spikes — the cell voltage drops below the shutdown threshold even though the reported percentage appears healthy. One full discharge-to-empty and charge-to-full cycle forces the coulomb counter to reset and re-learn the new cell's curve. After that cycle, the percentage readout tracks accurately and premature shutdowns stop.
Phone warm near the battery compartment on the first charge after replacement
A new cell arrives from storage with elevated internal impedance compared to a conditioned cell. The charge IC on the KX2 applies its standard charge current regardless, and higher impedance means more energy is dissipated as heat during the first charge cycle. This is normal and typically resolves after two or three full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. If warmth persists past the third cycle or the case becomes hot to the touch, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection increases contact resistance and amplifies heating.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KX2 powers off at around 25% battery — why does this keep happening with the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the KX2 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, not the replacement. Under modem or screen load, the new cell's voltage dips below the shutdown threshold before the percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge-to-empty followed by a complete charge with fast charging disabled — this resets the coulomb counter and retrains the IC against the new cell. After that single cycle, shutdowns at partial charge should stop.
The KX2 won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?
A Li-ion cell in storage self-discharges slowly. If it drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage and the phone will not respond to a normal boot press. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without attempting to power it on — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before resuming normal charging. Once the screen shows a charge indicator, the BMS has cleared lockout and the phone will boot normally.
The battery percentage on my KX2 jumps around erratically — 60% one minute, 45% the next.
Erratic percentage jumps mean the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against a cell it has no stored data for — this is expected on a fresh replacement. The IC uses a coulomb counter and voltage model together; until it completes a full reference cycle, both inputs conflict and produce unstable readings. Disable fast charging, discharge the phone to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single calibration cycle the readings stabilise.
