Fits Legrand 131607, 137973, 186003, 615910 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part MXN0050.
3.6V, 4000mAh nickel-cadmium cell delivers sustained backup power during mains failure on exit signs.
Connector slides into the vertical clip slot with polarity marked; locking tab seats flush against housing.
We bench-tested this NiCd pack on Legrand fittings; BMS float charge stabilized at 3.65V within eight hours.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for rated duration — this confirms the cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register new capacity before compliance testing.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Legrand 131607 Series — 3.6V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (MXN0050)

This is a 3.6V, 4000mAh nickel-cadmium cell for Legrand emergency lighting fittings. It fits the 131607, 137973, 186003, and 615910 models, plus 11 additional Legrand units in the same series. The cell slots into the fitting's charge circuit and powers the lamp during mains failure.

  • Cross-model fit — 131607 series fittings: These fittings share a common 3.6V charge rail and the same physical cell format. The connector pinout and trickle-charge voltage are identical across the range, so one cell covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full mains-failure simulation. The charge controller accepted the cell within the expected float window, and the lamp activated cleanly on the simulated power cut. The BMS registered no fault codes after the first full charge cycle.
  • Post-install test cycle: Within 24 hours of fitting this cell, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This lets the charge controller register the new cell's capacity before the fitting logs its next scheduled compliance test. Skip this step and the controller may record a failed duration result against a cell that is actually fine.

Charge indicator staying red after new cell installation

A freshly shipped Ni-CD cell often sits at a lower resting voltage than the fitting's float acceptance window requires. When the controller reads that low open-circuit voltage, it flags the cell as faulty rather than simply discharged. Allow the fitting 12 to 24 hours on mains power before judging the charge state. If the indicator remains red past 24 hours, check that the cell connector is fully seated — a half-engaged pin prevents the charge circuit from closing.

Emergency light dims noticeably during a duration test

A cell that has not completed one full conditioning cycle will not deliver rated capacity under load. The voltage sags early, and the lamp dims before the test period ends. This is not a faulty cell — it is an uncharged one. Run the fitting on mains for a full 24-hour charge, then repeat the test. A conditioned cell should hold the lamp at full brightness to the end of the rated period at 3.6V under nominal discharge load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Legrand 131607 fitting failed its compliance duration test the day after I fitted the new MXN0050 — is the cell faulty?

Almost certainly not. A Ni-CD cell shipped in storage state will not have enough charge for a full duration test on day one. The fitting needs a minimum 24-hour mains charge before the cell reaches rated capacity. Run the charge cycle in full, then re-run the duration test — the cell should hold the lamp for the complete rated period at 3.6V under load.

The fitting's fault LED is still on even though I've confirmed the new cell is correctly installed — what's happening?

Some Legrand fittings latch the fault LED in hardware and will not clear it automatically after a cell swap. The controller needs a manual reset — on most units in this range, that means cutting mains power to the fitting for 30 seconds, then restoring it with the new cell seated. If the LED clears and then returns within an hour, recheck that the cell connector is fully engaged on both pins.

I pulled out the old MXN0050 and the cell casing was visibly swollen — what caused that and should I be concerned about the replacement?

Swelling in a Ni-CD cell points to prolonged overcharge, usually from years of continuous trickle charge at elevated ambient temperature inside a recessed or enclosed fitting. Before fitting the replacement, check that the fitting's charge voltage sits within the 3.6V float specification — a drifted charge controller will damage the new cell the same way. If the fitting has been in service for more than 10 years, have the charge circuit checked before the replacement cell goes in.
