Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Legrand ECO 1 — 2.4V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (HB00010TA)
This is a 2.4V, 2000mAh nickel-cadmium cell that fits the Legrand ECO 1 emergency lighting unit and compatible models including 805809, 111903, and 117318. It replaces OEM part HB00010TA directly inside the fitting. When mains power fails, this cell powers the lamp circuit for the unit's rated emergency duration.
- ECO 1 and compatible fittings: These models share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-CD pack format, connector pitch, and charge controller float voltage. Swapping in a different voltage or chemistry will trip the charge controller and prevent the cell from reaching full charge.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a simulated mains-failure discharge. The charge controller accepted the cell without fault, and the BMS held voltage above the low-cell cutoff threshold throughout the discharge phase.
- First test cycle after installation: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting. This puts a real load on the new cell and lets the charge controller register actual capacity before your next scheduled compliance test. Skip this and the controller may flag a short-duration fault on the first formal inspection.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A freshly installed Ni-CD cell does not arrive at full capacity. Storage and shipping leave the cell partially discharged, and the ECO 1's trickle charge circuit takes 24 hours to bring it to rated capacity. If you run a compliance test before that window closes, the cell will cut out early and log a failure. Allow a full 24-hour charge after fitting, then perform a manual test cycle before submitting any inspection records.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
The ECO 1's charge controller checks cell voltage at float before switching to green. A cell that has been in storage for several months may present a resting voltage outside that acceptance window, causing the indicator to stay red. Leave the fitting powered on mains for a full 24-hour charge cycle — the controller will step through its charge phases and re-evaluate. If the indicator is still red after 24 hours, check the connector seating and confirm the cell polarity matches the PCB markings.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ECO 1 passed its last inspection but now cuts out halfway through the duration test — what changed?
Ni-CD cells lose capacity gradually through shallow cycling, and a cell that scraped through the last test may no longer hold enough charge to complete a full duration run. The ECO 1's charge controller cannot compensate for a cell that has dropped below its rated capacity. Replace the HB00010TA cell, allow 24 hours on mains charge, then run a full manual test before the next inspection. If the new cell cuts out early, the charge controller itself may need assessment.
The lamp dims noticeably a few minutes into the test after I fitted the new battery — is the cell faulty?
This is a first-activation symptom, not a faulty cell. A new Ni-CD cell straight out of packaging has not been conditioned and cannot deliver full current from the start. The ECO 1 draws a sustained load during the test, and an unconditioned cell sags under that load. Fit the cell, leave it on mains charge for 24 hours, then run one complete manual test cycle — this conditions the cell and allows it to deliver rated current on subsequent tests.
The fitting still shows a fault LED after I confirmed the new battery is seated correctly — how do I clear it?
Some ECO 1 fittings latch the fault LED in hardware and do not self-clear after the fault condition is resolved. The cell voltage may now be correct, but the controller is still holding the previous fault state. Disconnect mains power to the fitting for 10 seconds, then reconnect — this resets the charge controller and clears the latched fault flag. If the fault LED returns after reset, measure the cell voltage directly at the connector terminals; it should read above 2.2V after a full charge cycle.
