Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 510-12ISK Series — 7.68V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (5B10L67278)
This 7.68V, 4850mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original pack in the Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 510-12ISK and Miix 510-12IKB 2-in-1 hybrid tablet-laptop. It matches the OEM voltage rail, connector pinout, and physical dimensions (241.14 × 79.20 × 4.50mm) of the factory cell. Fits models including the 80U10002GE, 80XE0006GE, 80U1000JGE, and the broader MIIX 510 12ISK family.
- Miix 510 series fitment: The 12ISK and 12IKB share the same flat Li-Polymer pack, voltage rail, and BMS connector. OEM part numbers 5B10L67278, 5B10L68713, BSN04170A5-AT, and BSNO4170A5-LH are all interchangeable within this family — same cell, different label revisions from Lenovo's supply chain.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Miix 510 platform. The BMS handshake completed on first connection, charge initiation triggered without manual reset, and the fuel gauge IC began registering state-of-charge within two cycles.
- First-cycle calibration on the Miix 510: After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff — do not force shutdown — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement on the Miix 510
When the Miix 510 BIOS shows "poor health" immediately after a new cell is installed, the cause is EEPROM data carried over from the old pack — not a fault with the new cell. The BIOS battery manager stores cycle count, charge history, and health status in firmware registers that do not reset automatically on cell swap. Run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to force the learn cycle to complete. After two to three full cycles, the BIOS health reading will update to reflect the actual state of the new cell.
Miix 510 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This symptom happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load before the fuel gauge IC expects it. The fuel gauge was calibrated against the old, degraded cell and its discharge curve no longer maps accurately to the new cell's chemistry. The fix is to complete two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — this gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to re-map the voltage curve against the new cell. After calibration, the shutdown point should track accurately down to the real cutoff near 3.0V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Miix 510 shows the battery as "0%" or "unknown" in Windows right after I put the new cell in — is the battery dead?
No — this is the fuel gauge IC reading stale EEPROM data from the old pack rather than measuring the new cell. The IC needs live charge and discharge data before it can report state-of-charge accurately. Run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and repeat once more. After two complete cycles, the Windows percentage display will stabilise against the new cell's actual discharge curve.
Lenovo Vantage is showing the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from the 37.25Wh on the spec sheet. What's wrong?
The Wh figure shown in Lenovo Vantage pulls from the EEPROM on the battery pack, which stores the rated design capacity rather than the measured capacity of the installed cell. Replacement cells from alternative supply chains sometimes carry a slightly different rated value in that register than the original Lenovo-labelled pack. This is a data field mismatch, not a hardware fault — actual delivered energy is determined by the cell chemistry, not the EEPROM figure. If the charge and discharge behaviour is normal, the Wh display discrepancy can be ignored.
New battery installed, but the Miix 510 won't charge above 80% — is the cell faulty?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a cell fault. Lenovo Vantage and the BIOS on Miix 510 hardware include a battery conservation mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during extended plugged-in use. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power, then Battery, and check whether Conservation Mode or a custom charge limit is enabled. Disabling that setting will allow the cell to charge to 100%.
