Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad X201S / X201i — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (42T4534)
This 10.8V, 4400mAh (47.52Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Lenovo ThinkPad X201S and X201i. It matches OEM part numbers 42T4534, 42T4536, 42T4538, and related FRU/ASM variants. The X201S is a slim business ultraportable — this battery fits its standard 6-cell bay directly.
- X201S and X201i compatibility: Both models share the same 10.8V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The EEPROM data embedded in this cell matches what the ThinkPad EC firmware expects during battery authentication.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad X201S under combined CPU and display load. The BMS held charge regulation correctly, passed EC authentication, and did not trigger a false low-voltage cutoff during the test cycle.
- First-cycle conditioning on ThinkPad X201S: After installing, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting this cell
The ThinkPad EC reads EEPROM data from the old cell and compares it against the new one at first boot. When the stored cycle count and capacity values don't match the fresh cell, the firmware flags it as degraded before any real measurement occurs. This is not a fault with the replacement — it's stale data from the previous battery. Running the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge cycle forces the BIOS to rewrite the learn data and clear the warning.
X201S shutting down abruptly while the fuel gauge still shows 20–30% remaining
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under combined CPU and display load — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge IC didn't predict because it was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The gauge IC needs two or three full discharge-to-charge cycles against the new cell before its readings stabilise. Until then, treat any reading below 35% as unreliable. After the third full cycle, the reported percentage at shutdown should align closely with actual cell voltage — around 10.8V at full charge dropping to the 9.0V BMS cutoff floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ThinkPad X201S shows "0% available (plugged in, charging)" after fitting the new battery — is the cell dead?
This is an EEPROM mismatch, not a dead cell. The EC firmware reads stale capacity data from the previous battery's memory and cannot reconcile it with the new cell on first boot. Plug in the AC adapter, leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge, then run the laptop on battery until it hibernates. That one full cycle forces the BIOS to rewrite its battery learn data and the percentage will read correctly afterward.
The system information screen shows 40Wh for this battery but the spec says 47.52Wh — did I get the wrong one?
The Wh figure in system info is pulled from the EEPROM data written at the factory, which reflects a rated baseline, not the measured capacity of the installed cell. The 47.52Wh figure in the product spec is the actual cell chemistry value. After two or three full discharge-charge cycles, some ThinkPad firmware versions update the reported figure — but even if it stays at 40Wh on screen, the cell is delivering full capacity.
New battery charges normally but the X201S still shuts off unexpectedly at around 25% — what's causing it?
The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When cell voltage drops steeply under CPU and display load, the gauge hasn't learned where the new cell's voltage cliff sits, so it misses the cutoff prediction entirely. Run three complete discharge cycles — drain to hibernate each time, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. By the third cycle the IC recalibrates its model and the shutdown threshold aligns with the real 9.0V BMS floor.
