Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo Yoga 3 14 / Yoga 700-14ISK — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L14M4P72)

This is a 7.4V, 6050mAh (44.77Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Lenovo Yoga 3 14 and Yoga 700-14ISK ultrabook series. It replaces OEM part numbers L14M4P72 and L14S4P72. Fit models include the Yoga 3 14, Yoga 3 1470, Yoga 700 14ISK, and Yoga 700-14ISK(80QD006UGE), among others.

  • Yoga 3 14 and Yoga 700-14ISK platform: Both the Yoga 3 14 and Yoga 700-14ISK use the same 7.4V two-cell Li-Polymer pack with a shared connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. L14M4P72 and L14S4P72 are interchangeable references for the same physical cell configuration on this platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Yoga 3 14 unit and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the EC, reports accurate state-of-charge data, and holds charge through a full discharge-to-cutoff cycle without triggering a protection fault.
  • First-cycle recalibration on Yoga 3 14: After installing, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates at low battery, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health after swapping the L14M4P72

The Lenovo EC reads health data from EEPROM values written by the original cell's fuel gauge IC. A new cell carries different EEPROM state, so the BIOS flags it as degraded or unknown immediately after installation — even when the cell is fully intact. This is not a fault with the replacement. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. After two to three cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual chemistry and the health warning clears.

Yoga 3 14 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the cell cannot hold voltage above the EC's cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load — even though the OS gauge still reads 20–30%. The fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve, so the OS overestimates remaining charge. The fix is calibration: discharge the laptop to hibernate under normal use, then charge to 100% without interruption. Repeat two cycles and the gauge will track the actual voltage cliff accurately, eliminating premature shutdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Yoga 3 14 shows the new battery as 0% or "unknown" in Windows — did I get a faulty cell?

No — the Windows fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data from the old cell and hasn't mapped the new one yet. This shows up as 0%, "unknown," or a red battery icon immediately after swapping. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After two complete cycles the fuel gauge syncs with the new cell's actual capacity curve and the reading normalises.

System information shows the wrong Wh rating after installing the L14M4P72 — it reads lower than 44.77Wh. Is this normal?

Yes. The Wh figure shown in Lenovo Vantage or Windows Device Manager pulls from the EEPROM-stored design capacity of the old cell, not the physical chemistry of the new one. The EC updates this value gradually as it learns the new cell through charge-discharge cycles. After three full cycles the reported Wh rating will converge on the actual 44.77Wh spec. No action beyond normal cycling is needed.

The replacement battery charges to 80% then stops — the Yoga 3 14 won't charge past that point.

This is a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a fault with the cell. Lenovo's firmware includes a "Conservation Mode" that caps charging at 60% or 80% to reduce cell stress during long periods on AC power. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power → Battery Settings, and set the charge threshold to 100% or switch off Conservation Mode. The battery will then charge to full on the next cycle.
