Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ZUK Edge — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL271)
The BL271 is a 3.85V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer cell that fits the ZUK Edge (Z2151), ZUK Edge Premium Edition, and ZUK Edge Premium Edition TD-LTE Dual SIM. Dimensions are 76.68 × 63.36 × 3.34mm — matching the original cell footprint in the chassis. Capacity is 11.55Wh as rated.
- ZUK Edge and Z2151 fitment: The Z2151 board family runs a single battery connector pinout with an integrated NTC thermistor line. All variants listed here — including the TD-LTE dual-SIM model — share that same connector, BMS handshake voltage, and physical cell cavity dimensions.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Z2151 board, monitored BMS charge termination, and confirmed the protection circuit trips correctly at over-voltage and under-voltage thresholds. Charge acceptance was clean across both standard and fast-charge paths after the first full cycle.
- First-cycle fast charge handling on the ZUK Edge: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its discharge curve against the new cell before high-current fast charging pushes current into an uncalibrated coulomb counter — which prevents erratic percentage jumps in normal use.
Why the ZUK Edge reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Z2151 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its discharge model from the previous cell's coulomb-counting history. When you fit a new BL271, that stored model no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge reports stale data until it re-learns. One full discharge to shutdown, followed by a complete uninterrupted charge to 100%, resets the calibration and restores accurate reporting.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under modem or display load — even though the OS reports charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC is still using a calibration curve from the degraded original cell, so it underestimates how close the new cell is to its real cutoff voltage. The BMS then trips the protection circuit before the gauge catches up. Run one full discharge cycle without fast charging, and confirm resting cell voltage reads above 3.7V before the next charge — this anchors the new calibration baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ZUK Edge won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — is the cell dead?
The BL271's BMS locks out below approximately 2.5V per cell to prevent damage from deep discharge. A cell stored depleted can drop into lockout. Connect the phone to its original charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS re-initialises and allows normal boot. If the charge indicator does not appear after 30 minutes, check that resting cell voltage at the terminals reads at least 2.8V before concluding the cell is unrecoverable.
Fast charging stopped working on the ZUK Edge after fitting the new BL271 — the phone only slow-charges now.
The ZUK Edge fast-charge protocol negotiates between the charge IC and the battery BMS on the first cycle. A new BL271 cell presents slightly higher impedance than a broken-in cell, and the charge IC can step down to standard current as a precaution. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then discharge fully to shutdown, and plug back in — after that first cycle the charge IC recalibrates its impedance reading and fast charging resumes normally on subsequent connections.
The battery percentage on the ZUK Edge jumps erratically — skipping from 45% down to 12% and back up.
Erratic jumps are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a faulty cell. The coulomb counter is interpolating between stale data points that were mapped to the old worn cell. Do not top up the charge repeatedly in short sessions — that reinforces the bad calibration. Instead, let the phone discharge in a single uninterrupted session until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that full cycle the gauge re-anchors its zero and full-charge endpoints and the percentage should track smoothly.
