Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG Optimus Black P970 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-44JN)
This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell built to the BL-44JN specification. It fits the LG Optimus Black P970, VS700, P690, and over 60 additional LG handsets that share the same battery bay and connector. Voltage and capacity match the original factory spec exactly.
- P970 / VS700 / P690 platform fit: These models share the same 64.50 × 44.40 × 4.50mm cell footprint, 3.7V nominal rail, and contact pad layout. One BL-44JN cell covers all of them without any modification to the bay or connector tab.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a P970 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and low-voltage cutoff engaged at the expected threshold rather than tripping early.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge before using the device normally. This gives the onboard fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve for the new cell — skipping this step causes erratic percentage readings for the first several days.
Why the P970 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The P970 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks charge state by counting coulombs against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance and discharge profile. Until the IC maps one full cycle against the new cell, the percentage readout interpolates against stale data. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge resets the reference point and brings the percentage display back in line.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem or display draws a short high-current burst and the cell voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported state of charge still shows 20–30%. It is a fuel gauge calibration lag, not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge has not yet learned where the actual voltage cliff sits on this cell's discharge curve. Run the device through one or two full discharge-charge cycles and the shutdowns will stop as the IC corrects its low-voltage estimate. If shutdowns continue after three full cycles, check that charge termination is reaching 4.20V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The P970 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell dropped below 2.5V in storage and the BMS latched into deep-discharge lockout to protect the cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs time to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release and allow the phone to boot. If the charging LED comes on at any point, the cell is recovering.
My P970 shows 100% immediately after fitting the new battery, then jumps around between 60% and 85% while I use it — what's wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old battery. It has no accurate reference for this cell's voltage-to-capacity relationship yet. Run one complete discharge — let the phone shut itself off — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle the percentage tracking stabilises.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement — should I stop charging it?
Mild warmth on the first one or two charges is normal. A fresh high-impedance cell causes the charge IC to work slightly harder as it pushes current through a cell that hasn't yet been conditioned. Temperature should drop to near-ambient by the third charge cycle. If the back of the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — or if warmth persists beyond the third full charge, remove the battery and inspect the contact pads for debris or misalignment before charging again.
