Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Locknetics K380-001 — 12V Alkaline Replacement Battery (DL-30)
This is a 12V, 2300mAh alkaline replacement battery for the Locknetics K380-001 electronic door lock. It uses the OEM part number DL-30 and powers the lock's electronic control module, motor drive, and keypad or remote entry functions. Swap it in when the original pack depletes and the lock stops responding to access attempts.
- K380-001 power architecture: The K380-001 draws from a single 12V battery pack to run both the logic board and the drive motor in the same circuit. Splitting those loads across two separate batteries or mismatching voltage will trip the lock's protection logic and prevent the bolt from actuating.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the DL-30 through repeated lock and unlock sequences on the K380-001 and confirmed the BMS accepted the full 12V rail without flagging a low-voltage fault at startup.
- Post-swap access verification: After fitting the new battery, test every active access method — keypad, remote, and any enrolled keycards — before closing the door. The K380-001 runs a firmware handshake after power interruption, and some access credentials won't authenticate until that sequence completes.
Low battery warning on the K380-001 immediately after a fresh DL-30 install
This happens when the lock samples the battery voltage within the first few seconds of power-on, before the alkaline cells have settled under load. Alkaline packs can read below the lock's threshold voltage during that initial inrush from the motor. Remove the battery, wait 10 seconds, and reinsert it — this lets the logic board reinitialise and re-sample at rest voltage. If the warning clears, the battery is fine. If it persists, check the terminal contacts are clean and making full contact, then measure the pack voltage — it should read at or above 12V at rest.
K380-001 bolt moving slowly or stopping mid-travel after battery swap
A sluggish or stalled bolt usually means the drive motor is not getting full voltage at the moment of peak draw. Alkaline cells that have been sitting in storage lose surface charge and sag under the high-current spike the motor needs to start moving the bolt. Check pack voltage under load — if it drops below 10.5V during actuation, the cells are below usable capacity despite reading 12V at rest. Use a fresh DL-30 from sealed stock and confirm the voltage holds above 11V through a full lock-unlock cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Locknetics K380-001 isn't responding at all after I swapped the DL-30 — keypad is dead, nothing lights up
A complete loss of response after a battery change almost always means the lock's logic board didn't complete its power-on sequence. Remove the DL-30, wait 15 seconds for the capacitors to discharge fully, then reinsert the battery firmly and listen for the motor initialisation click. If the keypad still doesn't light up, check that the battery terminals are fully seated — a partially connected pack will deliver voltage too low for the board to boot. Reseat until you hear the startup tone.
The K380-001 lock paired to my phone fine before, but now it won't connect over Bluetooth after fitting the new battery
Power interruption breaks the active Bluetooth session on the K380-001, and some firmware versions don't automatically re-advertise after a cold restart. Open your lock's pairing app, delete the existing device entry, then put the lock into pairing mode — this is usually triggered by holding the interior button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes. Re-pair from scratch rather than trying to reconnect to the saved device. Once paired, run a test lock cycle from the app before closing the door.
The K380-001 keypad works but the bolt is grinding and feels like it's fighting itself — is this a battery issue?
Yes — a grinding or stuttering bolt under keypad command points to voltage sag on the motor drive line during peak draw. Alkaline cells with any storage time can hold a nominal 12V at rest but drop sharply when the motor pulls its start current, causing the bolt to stall and retry, which sounds like grinding. Measure the pack voltage while triggering a lock cycle — if it drops below 10.5V during actuation, replace the DL-30 with a fresh unit from sealed stock. A healthy pack will hold above 11V through the full bolt travel.
