Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Maico easyTymp / Interacoustics Titan — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MAI-721-4)
This 3.7V Li-ion cell (1800mAh / 6.66Wh) replaces the internal battery in the Maico easyTymp tympanometer and the Interacoustics Titan and TCallisto diagnostic systems. All three devices share the MAI-721-4 / 74101501 cell platform and the same connector footprint. Capacity comes from the product specification — 1800mAh at 3.7V nominal.
- Cross-platform fit — easyTymp, Titan, TCallisto: These three clinical tympanometers share an identical battery bay, connector locking tab, and BMS handshake protocol. The same cell powers all three because the voltage rail and charge IC requirements match across the platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the easyTymp charge sequence and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, cleared the charge flag, and reported full capacity on the status screen. No error codes were thrown on first or second cycle.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this cell, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification pass at startup — cutting power during this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the easyTymp alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The easyTymp's charge IC is calibrated to the OEM cell's internal resistance profile. A new replacement cell has a slightly different impedance signature on the first few cycles, which the BMS can interpret as insufficient charge even when the cell is at full voltage. This is a learn-cycle issue, not a cell defect. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle before clinical use — after that, the BMS recalibrates its threshold and the alarm clears. Nominal full-charge voltage for this cell is 4.2V.
Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below approximately 3.0V, the easyTymp's BMS will refuse to boot — this is a protection cutoff, not a faulty cell. Connect the device to the OEM charger and leave it for a minimum of 30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC applies a low-current pre-charge trickle to recover cells below the cutoff threshold before switching to the main charge rate. Once the cell climbs above 3.0V, the BMS releases the lockout and the device boots normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The easyTymp keeps alarming low battery even though it just finished charging — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The easyTymp BMS is tuned to the internal resistance signature of the OEM cell, and a fresh replacement reads slightly differently on the first few cycles — the BMS flags this as insufficient charge even when the cell is sitting at 4.2V. Run one full charge-to-full-discharge-to-full-charge cycle before drawing any conclusions. After that conditioning cycle the BMS recalibrates and the false alarm stops.
The device shuts off unexpectedly mid-test after the battery swap — what's happening?
New Li-ion cells handle load spikes differently in the first 10 cycles. The easyTymp's acoustic stimulus and pump sequence creates brief high-draw events that can trip the BMS overcurrent threshold on an unconditioned cell, causing an unexpected shutdown. This is not a capacity problem. Complete at least five full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use — the BMS load profile stabilises and unexpected cutoffs stop occurring. Do not interrupt a test cycle until the cell has been conditioned.
The charge indicator won't reach 100% on the first charge — should we be concerned?
No. The easyTymp charge IC applies a conservative upper current limit on the first charge of a new cell to protect against overvoltage on an unknown chemistry batch. The indicator may plateau at 95–98% and the device may stop charging earlier than expected. Complete the first charge session fully without unplugging early, then discharge the device in normal use and recharge from below 20%. The second charge cycle will reach 100% and the indicator will behave normally from that point forward.
