Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Marantz HX280S Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FNB-V105Li)
This is a 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Marantz HX280S portable two-way radio. It also fits the HX280, HX280E, and HX380. The OEM part numbers are FNB-V105Li, FNB-105Li, and SBR-41Li.
- HX280S, HX280, HX280E, HX380 fit group: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 7.4V nominal voltage rail is consistent across the series, so one pack covers all four without any wiring or housing modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the HX280S dock. The BMS responded correctly to transmit-current spikes at PTT press, held the voltage rail steady during sustained RF output, and tripped no overcurrent faults across the test sequence.
- First-insertion contact check: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The HX280-series charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins.
Why the HX280S drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a fresh pack
A new cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.7–3.8V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge peak. When the radio draws transmit current from a partially charged pack, the voltage sags further under load. The HX280S interprets that sag as a depleted pack and steps down RF output to protect the finals. A full charge cycle before the first shift eliminates this behaviour entirely.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting the FNB-V105Li
The HX280-series uses simple voltage-threshold steps to drive the bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a calibrated fuel reading. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the second or third threshold band, so the display shows fewer bars than the cell actually holds. Charge the pack fully in the dock until the charge LED goes green, then power on the radio — the indicator will read correctly at or above 8.3V open-circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HX280S cuts out completely when I press PTT on the new FNB-V105Li — what's causing that?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip. The transmit-current spike at PTT press briefly exceeds the protection threshold if the pack hasn't been fully charged first — storage voltage leaves the cells with less headroom before the BMS reacts. Charge the pack to full in the dock before the first use. If the cutout still happens after a full charge, wipe the gold contact strip and reseat the pack to clear any contact resistance the BMS is reading as a fault.
The charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging the new pack — how do I clear it?
The HX280-series dock checks for a minimum pack voltage before it accepts a charge handshake. A pack that has been in storage for an extended period can sit below that acceptance threshold, and the dock refuses to initiate. Remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly — a clean contact cycle often completes the handshake. If the fault LED persists, the pack voltage may be below the dock's recovery window; check open-circuit voltage across the contacts and confirm it reads above 6.0V before trying again.
The HX280S transmits fine for the first few calls, then the signal gets weak and scratchy — is the pack faulty?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output. As the radio draws continuous current during back-to-back transmissions, cell voltage drops faster than it recovers between calls, pulling the supply rail low enough that the radio reduces output power. It is not a faulty pack — it is the radio protecting its transmit circuitry. Allow a short rest between transmissions to let the cell voltage recover, and ensure the pack is fully charged at the start of each shift to maximise the available voltage buffer.
