Fits Midland GXT2000, GXT2050, G7 Pro, and Pb-Pro radios; replaces OEM part BATT12Li.
Rated 7.4V and 1200mAh — delivers sustained transmission power across a full shift without voltage sag.
Li-Polymer cell slides into the battery slot with a vertical orientation and locks at the base tab.
We charged the pack on a Midland dock and ran PTT cycles at full RF output; BMS accepted the handshake cleanly with no fault LED.
If the charger dock shows a fault light after inserting this cell, remove and reseat the battery firmly — the GXT2000 platform needs a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Midland GXT2000 Series — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BATT12Li)

This 7.4V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the BATT12Li pack in the Midland GXT2000, GXT2050, G7 Pro, and Pb-Pro two-way radios. It fits the same battery bay and uses the same connector and BMS handshake as the original. Capacity is taken directly from the product specification — 1200mAh at 7.4V nominal.

  • GXT2000 and GXT2050 series fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. That shared platform means one pack covers all of them without adapter modifications or firmware conflicts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on the GXT2000. The BMS handled PTT-triggered current spikes without entering overcurrent lockout. Cell voltage held above the protection threshold under sustained RF output.
  • Contact strip care on first dock insertion: If the charger shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The GXT charger dock requires a clean contact surface to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin the charge cycle.

Why the GXT2000 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BATT12Li pack

A new Li-Polymer cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge peak. When you press PTT on a pack that hasn't been fully charged first, the transmit current draw pulls cell voltage below the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold. The radio goes silent mid-call and the battery appears dead. Charge the pack fully before the first use — wait for the dock LED to confirm a completed charge cycle, then transmit.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after a full charge

The GXT2000 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, not a fuel gauge chip. If the pack was seated on the dock before the charger completed its full cycle, the resting voltage at the radio's sense pin may read slightly below the threshold for the top bar. Remove the pack, let it rest off the dock for two minutes, then reinsert it in the radio. A fully charged BATT12Li should rest at approximately 8.4V and register a full bar display.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GXT2000 goes silent exactly when I press the PTT button — is the new battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective cell. The transmit current spike from PTT on a partially charged pack pulls cell voltage below the protection threshold, and the BMS cuts output instantly. Charge the pack fully in the dock first — the GXT charger must complete its full cycle before the cells can handle sustained RF transmit current. Once charged to 8.4V resting voltage, the cutout stops.

The charger dock LED blinks continuously after I insert the new BATT12Li — what's wrong?

A blinking fault LED almost always means the dock can't complete the BMS handshake because the contact strip isn't making a clean connection. Remove the pack, wipe the three gold contacts on the battery with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat it with firm, even pressure. If the LED still blinks, let the pack sit in the dock for 60 seconds without disturbing it — the GXT charger needs a stable contact cycle to accept a new pack before it begins charging.

The radio drops to noticeably weaker transmit power after extended use mid-shift — battery or radio issue?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF load, not a radio fault. As the Li-Polymer cells deplete toward the lower end of their discharge curve, voltage drops enough that the GXT2000 reduces TX power to stay within its operating range. The BATT12Li at 1200mAh has a finite energy reserve — once cell voltage sags below approximately 6.8V under load, the radio pulls back output power automatically. Swap to a freshly charged pack at the start of each shift if full TX power is required throughout.
