Fits Matrix AK 18-1-Li platform cordless tools; replaces OEM part 120.300.650.
18V, 2000mAh capacity delivers consistent power across drills, impact drivers, and saws.
Slide connector locks into tool grip slot with positive alignment; no rotation allowed.
We bench-tested this pack on Matrix drill and saw motor inrush — BMS held stable at 60A peaks without nuisance cutoff.
On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before maximum torque applications — allows the BMS to profile motor inrush current draw before setting overcurrent protection thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Matrix AK 18-1-Li — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (120.300.650)

This is an 18V 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Matrix AK 18-1-Li cordless tool platform. It fits Matrix 18V drills, impact drivers, circular saws, and other tools that accept the AK 18-1-Li pack. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec — 18V nominal, 36Wh total energy.

  • AK 18-1-Li platform compatibility: Matrix 18V tools share a common battery rail and connector across the AK 18-1-Li lineup. The BMS on this pack communicates with the tool's controller using the same signal line as the original, so the tool recognises the pack without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a Matrix 18V drill and circular saw under load. The BMS held the output rail steady through repeated trigger pulls and cleared overcurrent events without latching into fault mode.
  • Motor inrush break-in: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full-torque applications. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you push the tool hard.

BMS cutoff on drill and saw motor-start inrush surge

Every time you pull the trigger, the motor draws a spike of current — often three to five times the running current — for the first fraction of a second. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor, it can read that spike as a fault and cut the output rail instantly. This is not a dead battery — it is the overcurrent protection doing its job with an incomplete current map. Running the tool through two half-load cycles before full use gives the BMS enough data to distinguish a normal start from a true fault. After the break-in cycles, cold-start cutouts on trigger pull should stop.

Charger not recognising the pack after storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 10V on an 18V pack — the charger refuses to start a charge cycle and shows a blinking or red indicator. The cells are not dead; they are just below the entry window. Use a compatible Li-ion charger with a recovery or "wake" mode, or apply a short manual top-up at a low rate to bring the pack above 12V. Once above the threshold, insert the pack into the Matrix charger and it will begin a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Matrix drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on hard materials — why does it keep tripping?

That cutout is the BMS responding to motor-start inrush current. On tough fasteners or dense timber, the initial current spike can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold before it has profiled the motor. Run two half-load cycles first — soft materials, no torque resistance — so the BMS can log a normal inrush signature. After that, the trigger-pull cutouts on hard applications should stop.

The battery gets warm fast and the tool suddenly loses power mid-cut — is this a fault?

No — this is thermal cutoff activating. Under sustained circular saw or heavy drill load, heat builds in both the motor and the cells inside the enclosed housing. When cell temperature hits the BMS cutoff point, it shuts the output rail to protect the cells. Let the pack cool for 15 minutes with the tool casing open if possible, then resume. If it cuts out repeatedly at the same point in a cut, reduce blade depth or work in shorter passes to keep cell temperature below the threshold.

The Matrix charger LED goes red and never switches to green on this new pack — what do I do?

The pack likely sat in storage long enough for cell voltage to drop below the charger's acceptance floor — roughly 10–12V on an 18V pack. The charger sees that as an unsafe starting condition and refuses the cycle. If your charger has a recovery or conditioning mode, use it. If not, a compatible Li-ion charger with a low-rate trickle function can bring the pack above 12V in about 20–30 minutes. Once above the entry threshold, reinsert into the Matrix charger and it will accept the pack and begin a normal charge.
