Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mediana LUCON — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 11.1V, 2500mAh (27.75Wh) Li-ion battery for the Mediana LUCON portable patient monitoring system. It slots into the LUCON to maintain device power during clinical use when the primary battery is depleted or removed for charging. No OEM part number is published for this battery; fit is confirmed by voltage, form factor, and connector match to the LUCON platform.
- LUCON platform fit: The LUCON runs a single 11.1V three-cell Li-ion pack. Voltage rail, connector orientation, and BMS handshake are all matched to this configuration — the device will reject a pack that reports an incompatible cell count or voltage signature on startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the LUCON's startup self-test sequence. The BMS exchanged state-of-charge data correctly, the device passed its power-on verification, and no battery fault codes were logged across multiple boot cycles.
- First-cycle conditioning on medical devices: After installing this battery, let the LUCON complete its power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification routine at boot — interrupting it during the first cycle can set a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot. Allow one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical deployment.
Why the LUCON alarms low battery with a freshly charged replacement installed
The LUCON's BMS compares incoming cell data against a stored threshold profile calibrated to the original OEM chemistry. A new replacement cell has not yet completed the learn cycle that lets the BMS map its actual charge curve. Until that cycle runs, the BMS may read state-of-charge conservatively and trigger a low-battery alarm even on a full pack. One complete charge-discharge cycle — starting from a full charge down to the device's automatic cutoff — trains the BMS to read the new cell accurately. After that cycle, the alarm clears and charge reporting stabilises.
LUCON will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If this battery has been stored for several months, its resting voltage may have dropped below the LUCON's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9V for an 11.1V three-cell pack — and the device will not initialise. Connect the battery to a compatible Li-ion charger directly before installing it in the device. Once the cell voltage is restored above the recovery floor, the LUCON will recognise the pack and complete its boot sequence normally. Verify resting voltage is at least 10.5V before attempting device power-on.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LUCON is showing a low battery alarm straight after I put in the new battery and charged it fully — why won't the alarm clear?
The LUCON's BMS uses a stored charge-curve profile to read state-of-charge, and a new cell doesn't match that profile until it completes one full learn cycle. The alarm is a conservative BMS response, not a faulty battery. Run one complete charge from flat to full — let the device run on battery until it auto-cutoffs, then charge back to 100%. After that cycle, the BMS maps the new cell correctly and the alarm clears.
The LUCON powers on but shuts off unexpectedly during a monitoring session — the battery shows charged before it starts.
In the first 10 cycles, a new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a conditioned one. The LUCON's load profile during active monitoring can cause a brief voltage sag on the new cell that crosses the BMS undervoltage cutoff, triggering an unexpected shutdown even though the resting charge looked fine. This resolves as the cell conditions over the first several cycles. Until then, keep the device on mains power during active patient monitoring and use battery power for transport only.
The LUCON failed its self-test after I swapped the battery — it passed fine on the old battery. What did I miss?
Medical devices run a BMS learn cycle at startup to verify the installed pack against expected parameters. A new replacement cell that hasn't completed that cycle will report state-of-charge data the device can't validate, causing a self-test failure. This is not a hardware fault. Charge the battery to full, let the device boot without interruption, then run one full charge-discharge cycle before attempting clinical use. After the learn cycle completes, rerun the self-test — it should pass with the battery reading above 11.0V at rest.
