Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Covidien Nellcor Libra PM100N — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (M-BPL-1(22))
This 11.1V, 2500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the Nellcor Libra PM100N pulse oximeter and the Nellcor Bedside SpO₂ Patient Monitoring System. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector used across the PM100N platform. Capacity is 2500mAh (27.75Wh), sourced to match the original cell specification.
- PM100N and Bedside SpO₂ platform fit: Both devices share the same 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture, BMS handshake protocol, and physical connector. A single cell format covers both units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and load cycles on the PM100N platform. The BMS accepted the cell, completed its initialisation sequence, and held voltage within the device's accepted operating window under continuous SpO₂ monitoring load.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the PM100N complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification check at startup — cutting power mid-sequence registers a battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.
Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap
The PM100N runs a startup BMS verification that checks cell voltage and internal resistance against stored thresholds before completing the boot sequence. A new cell straight out of packaging can read lower resting voltage than those thresholds expect, particularly after shipping in a partial state of charge. This causes the device to stall or restart mid-boot rather than reaching the monitoring screen. Charge the replacement cell fully before the first installation — the battery should present at least 12.4V before insertion to pass the initial BMS check.
Low battery alarm triggering immediately after confirmed full charge
This happens because the PM100N's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold calibrated to an OEM cell with an established charge history. A new Li-ion cell has not yet completed its first full electrochemical cycle, so the BMS reports capacity below the alarm trigger even when the cell is physically full. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle before relying on the battery indicator in clinical use. After that conditioning cycle, the BMS recalibrates its capacity estimate and the alarm threshold aligns correctly with actual cell state.

Frequently Asked Questions
The PM100N keeps shutting off mid-monitoring session — could it be the new battery or something else?
New Li-ion cells deliver less stable current in the first 10 charge cycles because the electrochemical layers haven't fully conditioned. The PM100N's load profile during continuous SpO₂ monitoring draws harder than standby, which stresses an unconditioned cell enough to trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff. Run three full charge-discharge cycles before using the battery in uninterrupted clinical monitoring. If shutdowns continue after conditioning, check that the terminal connection is fully seated — the PM100N's connector requires a firm click to maintain contact under load.
The charge indicator on the PM100N never reaches 100% on the first charge — is the battery faulty?
It's not faulty. The device's charge IC applies a reduced current limit on a cell it hasn't profiled yet, which causes the first charge to terminate early at around 90–95% by the indicator's estimate. The physical cell is full; the BMS just hasn't learned the cell's actual capacity yet. Complete one full discharge and recharge cycle — on the second charge, the indicator will reach 100% as the BMS updates its capacity model.
The replacement battery sat unused for several weeks and now the PM100N won't power on at all — what's happening?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the PM100N's BMS has a minimum recovery threshold — typically around 9V for an 11.1V three-cell pack — below which it will not attempt to boot the device. If the cell dropped below that threshold during storage, the device sees the pack as unrecoverable and refuses to start. Connect the battery to the PM100N's charger for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on — most BMS units in this class initiate a trickle pre-charge recovery cycle that brings the cell back above the boot threshold before handing control to the device.
