Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion MD40632 / MD40780 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (442673400015)
This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion battery for the Medion MD40632 and MD40780 laptops, as well as the Gericom 8640 and 1st Supersonic ForceXL 8640 series. It replaces OEM part numbers including 442673400015, 40004852, and NBP001310-00. When the original cell no longer holds charge, this swap restores full untethered operation.
- MD40632 / MD40780 / Gericom 8640 platform fit: These models share a common 14.8V four-cell Li-ion architecture with the same physical connector and BMS handshake protocol. The cell count and voltage rail are identical across the group, which is why one part number covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on compatible hardware. The BMS negotiated correctly, protection circuits responded to over-current events as expected, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge after two full cycles.
- Post-swap learn cycle for the MD40632: After installing, run one full discharge down to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement
The Medion BIOS stores health and cycle data in EEPROM on the old battery pack. When a new cell is installed, that EEPROM data does not exist yet, so the BIOS flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a firmware state issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the BIOS learn cycle and overwrites the stale health data. After two full cycles, the reported health status should normalise.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load, even though the OS fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve, so its percentage estimate runs ahead of real voltage. The cutoff trips not because the battery is faulty, but because the gauge is reading inaccurately against an uncalibrated baseline. Let the laptop discharge fully to hibernate at least twice — the fuel gauge IC maps the new cell's curve and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Medion MD40632 BIOS shows the new battery as 0% health right after I installed it — is the cell dead?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The BIOS reads health data from EEPROM stored on the old pack, and when that pack is gone, it has nothing to read — so it flags the replacement as unknown or degraded. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That triggers the BIOS learn cycle and the health reading corrects within two full cycles.
Windows battery report says this cell is rated at a different Wh than what's on the listing — why do the numbers not match?
The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the manufacturer's rated capacity for the original OEM cell chemistry. The replacement cell's actual chemistry may differ slightly at the electrode level, producing a different measured Wh even at the same nominal voltage and mAh rating. The 65.12Wh figure in the listing reflects the actual cell specification we source and test against. Disregard the EEPROM-reported figure in Windows — it does not affect charge behaviour or cutoff thresholds.
The battery charges normally for the first few cycles but the percentage jumps around wildly — 60% one minute, 45% the next — what is happening?
The fuel gauge IC on this platform calibrates against the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the IC's state-of-charge estimates are inaccurate until it maps the new profile. Run two to three full discharges down to hibernate-cutoff followed by uninterrupted charges to 100%. After those calibration cycles the fuel gauge IC locks onto the new curve and the percentage readout stabilises.
