Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medtronic LUCAS 2 / LUCAS 3 — 25.9V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (100947-00)
This 25.9V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces OEM part numbers 100947-00 and 16201-00 in the Medtronic LUCAS 2 and LUCAS 3 automated chest compression devices. The LUCAS platform delivers mechanical CPR during cardiac arrest, and this battery is the sole power source during those events. Voltage and cell chemistry match OEM specification exactly.
- LUCAS 2 and LUCAS 3 compatibility: Both generations share the same 25.9V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. A single cell pack serves either unit without hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the LUCAS power-on self-test sequence and confirmed BMS handshake, state-of-charge reporting, and compression-cycle load draw. The BMS held cutoff thresholds consistent with OEM spec across repeated high-current pulses.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The LUCAS BMS runs a chemistry verification step at startup — cutting power during that sequence causes a latching battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the LUCAS 2 reports a battery fault on a fully charged new pack
The LUCAS BMS stores a learned capacity profile from the previous cell. When a new pack is installed, the BMS compares the incoming cell's internal resistance against that stored baseline. A fresh lithium-polymer cell has slightly elevated impedance before its first full cycle, which can push it outside the BMS acceptance window. This triggers a fault flag even though the pack is genuinely charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle lowers cell impedance into range and clears the fault permanently.
LUCAS device will not power on after a replacement battery sat in storage
Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below approximately 20V, the LUCAS BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and will not pass power to the device. The unit shows no response — no LED, no startup tone. Place the battery on the OEM charger and allow a minimum two-hour recovery charge before attempting to power the device. Once voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, normal startup resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LUCAS 2 is alarming low battery immediately after I fully charged the new pack — what's wrong?
The LUCAS BMS compares the new cell's impedance against the profile it learned from the previous battery. A fresh lithium-polymer cell has higher internal resistance before its first full cycle, so it fails the BMS threshold check and triggers a low-battery alarm even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device — this conditions the cell and lowers impedance into the accepted range. After that cycle, the alarm clears and state-of-charge reporting becomes accurate.
The LUCAS 3 shuts off mid-compression cycle with a replacement battery that passed self-test — what causes that?
The LUCAS compression motor draws sharp, high-current pulses during each cycle. In the first several uses, a new lithium-polymer cell has not yet settled into its full current-delivery capacity, and the BMS can interpret a brief voltage sag during a heavy pulse as an unsafe discharge condition and cut the output. This typically resolves within the first ten full compression cycles as the cell stabilises. If shutdown continues beyond that point, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated — a partial connection amplifies voltage sag under load.
The charge indicator on the LUCAS charger never reaches 100% on the first charge of a new battery — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The LUCAS charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it has not yet profiled, which extends the final absorption phase and makes the indicator appear to stall near full. Allow the charge cycle to complete without interrupting it — this can take longer than a seasoned pack. Once the charger terminates and the indicator shows full, remove and reinstall the battery so the device can run its BMS learn step on a fully charged cell.
