Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Maquet Cardiosave Hybrid — 14.3V Li-ion Replacement Battery (0146-00-0097)
This is a 14.3V, 14900mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Maquet Cardiosave Hybrid portable defibrillator and CPR support device. It matches OEM part number 0146-00-0097 and fits the Cardiosave Hybrid platform directly. Voltage and capacity are matched to the device's internal power management system.
- Cardiosave Hybrid platform fit: The Cardiosave Hybrid draws from a single high-capacity 14.3V pack to power both the defibrillator charge circuit and the active compression driver simultaneously. Any replacement must meet the OEM voltage rail and BMS handshake protocol — this cell does both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on the Cardiosave Hybrid platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, completed its verification sequence, and reported state-of-charge correctly across full and partial cycles.
- Post-installation self-test requirement: After fitting this battery, allow the Cardiosave Hybrid to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification pass at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a persistent battery fault that does not clear until a complete reboot cycle.
Why the Cardiosave Hybrid may not complete its boot sequence on a new battery
The Cardiosave Hybrid runs a multi-stage BMS handshake during boot — it checks cell voltage, internal resistance, and charge state before clearing the device for use. A new cell that has partially self-discharged during storage may sit below the threshold this check expects, causing the boot sequence to stall or abort. This is not a cell fault — it is the device's protection logic responding to low open-circuit voltage. Fully charge the replacement battery before installation, then allow the device to complete its self-test cycle uninterrupted.
Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Cardiosave Hybrid's charge indicator and low-battery alarm both reference the BMS's state-of-charge model, which is calibrated against the OEM cell's charge curve. A new replacement cell needs one complete charge-discharge cycle before the BMS accurately maps its capacity profile. Until that first cycle completes, the BMS may under-report state-of-charge and trigger a low-battery alarm even when the pack is fully charged. Run one full charge from flat to 100% before placing the device into clinical rotation — after that cycle, the alarm threshold aligns correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Cardiosave Hybrid shows a self-test failure immediately after I swapped the battery — is the new cell faulty?
This is almost always a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a faulty cell. The device's self-test measures internal resistance and capacity against stored OEM reference values, and a new cell won't match those values until it has completed at least one full charge-discharge cycle. Run the battery from a full charge down through a normal use cycle, then recharge to 100% before running the self-test again. After one full cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the self-test pass rate on replacement cells is consistent.
The Cardiosave Hybrid won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several weeks — what's happening?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the Cardiosave Hybrid's BMS has a minimum voltage threshold below which it will refuse to initialise — this protects the cell from damage during recovery charging. If the pack dropped below approximately 10V–11V during storage, the device will not boot. Connect the battery to the Cardiosave Hybrid charger and leave it on charge for a full cycle before attempting to power on the device. Once the cell recovers above the BMS recovery threshold, the device boots normally.
The Cardiosave Hybrid is shutting off unexpectedly during compression sequences on the new battery — is this a voltage sag issue?
Yes — the active compression driver draws a sharp, high-current load at each compression cycle, and new Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles before the electrolyte fully wets the electrode stack. This resistance causes momentary voltage sag under peak load, which can trip the BMS's undervoltage cutoff mid-use. The behaviour resolves after the cell completes its initial conditioning cycles. Do not use the replacement battery for unsupervised clinical deployment until it has completed at least 10 full charge-discharge cycles on the Cardiosave Hybrid platform.
