Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Zune 30GB — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (G71C0006Z110)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Microsoft Zune 30GB portable media player. It fits the Zune 1089, 1090, and 1091 variants alongside the standard 30GB model. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds charge or the player won't power on after sitting unused.
- Zune 30GB platform fit: The 1089, 1090, and 1091 model numbers are regional and retail variants of the same 30GB hardware. They share the same PCB layout, connector pinout, and battery cavity dimensions — one cell fits all four.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a Zune 30GB unit. The BMS accepted charge current normally, voltage held above 3.5V through the majority of discharge, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without locking up the board.
- Post-install charge cycle: After fitting a new cell, connect the Zune to its original charger and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge before first use. Cells that ship partially discharged can trigger the player's deep discharge protection state, which blocks normal boot until trickle charge raises the cell above the minimum threshold voltage.
Battery percentage jumping after a cell swap on the Zune 30GB
The Zune 30GB estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against a fixed lookup table stored in firmware. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the aged original, so the percentage display recalibrates over the first few charge and discharge cycles. You may see the indicator jump from 80% to 40% or stall at 99% mid-charge. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles and the reading will stabilise.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty
The audio amplifier inside the Zune 30GB draws more current than the processor or display. Near the end of discharge, cell voltage sags under that load even though the firmware still reads the battery as partially full. When voltage drops below approximately 3.2V under load, the amplifier loses enough headroom to drop audio before the low-battery indicator triggers. If this happens, the fix is a full charge — do not attempt to squeeze more playback from a cell at that point, as repeated deep sag accelerates cell degradation.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Zune 30GB won't turn on after fitting the new battery — screen stays completely blank.
This is almost always the deep discharge protection state. The replacement cell ships below full charge, and the Zune's protection circuit blocks boot until the cell voltage clears the minimum threshold. Connect the original charger and leave it plugged in for at least 30 minutes without pressing any buttons — the device will begin trickle charging and should respond normally once the cell reaches approximately 3.4V.
The Zune shows a percentage on screen but audio cuts out halfway through a track near end of charge.
The audio amplifier draws significantly more current than idle playback, and cell voltage sags under that load before the firmware's voltage threshold triggers the low-battery warning. The display percentage is calculated from a resting-voltage estimate, not live load voltage, so the two fall out of sync at low charge levels. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a firmware limitation of the original Zune software. Charge the device fully and the issue will not appear until the cell is genuinely near depletion again.
After a few weeks of use the battery percentage is jumping around erratically — 60% one minute, 30% the next.
The Zune 30GB's charge indicator recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping over the first several cycles on a new cell. If you have run fewer than three full charge and discharge cycles since the swap, that is the cause. Run the cell down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — repeat this twice more and the firmware's table will align to the new cell's actual discharge curve.
