Fits Midea R1-L051B robotic vacuum cleaner and replaces OEM battery pack R1-L051B.
14.4V and 1800mAh capacity matches original output; motor receives stable voltage through cleaning cycles.
Connector slides into standard Midea dock port with locking tab engagement; no adapter needed.
Bench test shows clean BMS handshake on first dock insertion; charger cycles without fault codes.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently — continuous trickle charge degrades Ni-MH capacity significantly faster than removing the pack when full.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Midea R1-L051B — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V 1800mAh Ni-MH battery for the Midea R1-L051B robotic vacuum cleaner. It replaces the original cell pack that powers the vacuum's drive motors and cleaning brush system. When the original battery can no longer hold charge, this unit restores the vacuum to working condition.

  • R1-L051B platform fit: The R1-L051B uses a 14.4V Ni-MH pack with a cell arrangement matched to the vacuum's motor driver board. Voltage and connector position must align for the BMS to communicate correctly with the charging circuit — this replacement matches both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge-discharge cycle on the R1-L051B platform. The BMS responded correctly at both the high-draw startup phase and the sustained low-draw cruise phase, without tripping overcurrent protection.
  • Dock charging practice for Ni-MH cells: Do not leave the R1-L051B on the charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells are more sensitive to continuous trickle charge than Li-ion — extended dock sitting accelerates capacity fade. Charge fully, then remove from the dock until the next use.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

Ni-MH cells exhibit voltage sag under load before the pack is genuinely depleted. On the R1-L051B, the brush motor and drive motors pull current simultaneously — if the filter is even partially restricted, total draw spikes and pack voltage dips early. The vacuum's controller interprets this voltage dip as low battery and reduces motor power before the cells are actually empty. Clean the filter first, then retest — a clean filter alone can recover noticeable suction on an otherwise good pack.

Motor cuts out mid-run and then recovers after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty battery. When the brush roller hits a carpet edge or a blockage, current draw spikes sharply. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cells, then resets after the pack cools slightly — usually within 30 to 60 seconds. Check the brush roller for hair or debris wrapped around the axle before assuming the battery is at fault. Clear the restriction, power cycle the unit, and the BMS should reset without any further intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Midea R1-L051B runs for a short time then acts like the battery is flat — but it charges fully the next day. What's happening?

This is Ni-MH voltage sag under load, not a dead pack. When the R1-L051B's brush and drive motors draw peak current together — especially on carpet — pack voltage drops sharply and the controller shuts down to protect the cells, even though charge remains. Check and clean the filter first; a blocked filter forces the motor to pull above rated current and triggers this early. If the filter is clear and the fault persists, the original cell pack has likely lost capacity and this replacement will resolve it.

The R1-L051B sits on the dock all the time between uses — now it barely runs. Did the dock damage the battery?

Yes, continuous dock charging is the most common cause of Ni-MH capacity fade on robotic vacuums. The dock applies a trickle charge indefinitely, and Ni-MH cells degrade faster under sustained low-level charge than Li-ion does. With a fresh replacement pack, charge fully and remove the vacuum from the dock — only return it to charge when the battery is low. That single change significantly slows capacity fade on the new cell.

The replacement battery won't charge on the R1-L051B dock — the charging indicator never comes on. What do I check?

First, verify the battery is seated fully — the connector on the R1-L051B pack has a locking tab that must click into place before the charging circuit closes. If seating is confirmed, check the dock contacts for oxidation and wipe them with a dry cloth. The R1-L051B charger expects a specific voltage range at the pack terminals before it initiates charge; a resting pack voltage below roughly 10V may cause the charger to reject it. In that case, remove the pack, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, reseat it, and retry.
