Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Mindray BeneHeart C Series — 12V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (LM34S002A)
This 12V, 4200mAh lithium-manganese dioxide battery replaces the OEM LM34S002A cell used in Mindray BeneHeart C series AEDs. It fits the BeneHeart C, BeneHeart C1, BeneHeart C1 Fully Automatic, BeneHeart C2, and two additional variants in the same family. Li-MnO2 chemistry is standard for AED applications — it holds voltage flat under pulse load and stays stable across a wide temperature range without active cooling.
- BeneHeart C series compatibility: All listed BeneHeart C variants share the same 12V power rail, LM34S002A connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell covers the full family. No adapter or wiring change is needed between models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the BeneHeart C's power-on self-test sequence and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags. The charge IC held within expected voltage tolerance at the top of charge, and the low-battery threshold triggered at the correct state of charge.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, do not interrupt the device's power-on self-test cycle. The BeneHeart C runs a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence stores a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot and can trigger a low-battery alarm on an otherwise fully charged cell.
Why the BeneHeart C flags a battery fault after a clean swap
The BeneHeart C's BMS stores state-of-health data from the previous cell. When a new battery is installed, the BMS compares incoming cell data against its stored charge profile — and if the new cell hasn't completed a full charge-discharge cycle, the BMS may not recognise it as within threshold. This triggers a fault flag even when the cell voltage is correct. Running one full charge cycle after installation lets the BMS calibrate its learn registers to the new cell and clears the fault without a service call.
Low-battery alarm firing immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the charge IC applies a conservative current limit on the first charge of a new Li-MnO2 cell, leaving it a few hundred millivolts below the BMS acceptance threshold even though the charger shows complete. The BeneHeart C's self-test then reads the resting voltage, finds it below the OEM calibration point, and raises the alarm. The fix is straightforward: leave the battery on charge for a full second cycle without interruption. After cycle two, resting voltage should sit above 12.6V and the alarm will not repeat.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BeneHeart C won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage for a few months — is the cell dead?
Probably not dead, but the cell has self-discharged below the BMS recovery threshold, which causes the device to refuse to boot rather than attempt to run on low voltage. Connect it to the OEM charger and leave it on charge for a full cycle without interrupting — the charge IC will apply a low-rate recovery current first. If the charger accepts the battery and begins charging, the cell is recoverable; check resting voltage after a full cycle and confirm it reads above 12.0V before returning the device to service.
The BeneHeart C shuts off unexpectedly during the first few uses after a battery swap — what's causing it?
New Li-MnO2 cells deliver their full pulse capacity only after the first 8–10 charge-discharge cycles. In the break-in period, internal resistance is slightly elevated, and the BeneHeart C's high-current defibrillation charge pulse creates a momentary voltage sag that the BMS reads as an undervoltage event and responds by cutting power. This is not a faulty cell — it is normal behaviour on a new battery under a medical-grade pulse load. Complete at least one full charge-discharge cycle before clinical use, and the BMS trip threshold will stabilise as internal resistance drops.
The self-test is failing after the battery swap even though the charger showed a full charge — what do we check first?
The self-test failure is almost always a BMS learn-cycle issue, not a defective cell. The BeneHeart C's BMS needs one complete charge-discharge cycle on the new battery to write accurate state-of-health data into its registers — without it, the self-test compares the new cell against stale OEM data and fails. Run a full charge cycle, then let the device complete its power-on self-test without interruption. If the fault clears and the device passes self-test, the battery is functioning correctly; confirm resting cell voltage reads above 12.6V before logging the device as ready for use.
