Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medela Freestyle Breast Pump — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (919.7010)
This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the internal rechargeable cell in the Medela Freestyle Breast Pump. It restores cordless operation to a pump that has lost charge capacity or stopped holding a charge altogether. OEM part numbers 919.7010, 67060, and 101034761 all reference this same cell configuration.
- Freestyle Pump platform fit: The Freestyle uses a specific 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS that negotiates charge state with the pump's onboard charge IC. Voltage, connector pinout, and cell dimensions must all match — a generic Li-ion pack at the same voltage will not complete the handshake and the pump will flag a battery fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Freestyle's charge IC and confirmed the BMS communicated correctly across charge and discharge. The pack accepted a full charge without triggering fault flags and held voltage within spec under the pump motor's draw profile.
- Post-installation self-test: After fitting this battery, let the Freestyle complete its full power-on sequence without interruption. The pump runs a BMS verification check at startup. Interrupting it before the sequence finishes can log a false battery fault that stays active until the device is powered down and rebooted from scratch.
Why the Freestyle charge indicator stalls before reaching 100% on a new cell
The Freestyle's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a cell it has not previously profiled. On the first charge, the IC holds the termination voltage lower than normal and cuts off early — the indicator may stop at 85–90% and stay there. This is the charge controller being cautious, not a fault with the cell. Running one complete charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle allows the IC to update its profile and the indicator will reach 100% on the second charge.
Freestyle powers on briefly then shuts off within seconds of starting a session
This happens when a replacement cell has been in storage long enough for self-discharge to pull it below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 6.0V for a 7.4V two-cell pack. The pump draws enough current at motor start to trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff before the cell has had a chance to recover. Connect the pump to the charger and leave it for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Freestyle is showing a low battery alert right after I fully charged the new battery — is the battery faulty?
Almost certainly not. The Freestyle's BMS sets its "low battery" threshold against a learned chemistry profile, and a new cell hasn't completed a full cycle yet, so the BMS flags it as low even when the cell is charged. Run one complete charge-discharge-recharge cycle before trusting the indicator. After that first cycle, the BMS updates its profile and the alert clears.
The charge indicator never reaches 100% on the first charge — it stops around 85% and won't move.
The pump's charge IC applies a conservative termination limit on a new, unprofiled cell and cuts the charge session short. This is normal behaviour on the first cycle — it is not a fault. Complete one full discharge during a normal pumping session, then recharge from flat. The IC will reach 100% on the second charge once it has profiled the cell.
The Freestyle keeps shutting off mid-session — it worked fine the first time but now cuts out after a few minutes.
New Li-ion cells are under-formed in the first 10 cycles and their internal resistance is higher than it will be once broken in. The Freestyle's motor draw at peak suction is enough to cause a momentary voltage sag that trips the BMS undervoltage cutoff on a not-yet-formed cell. Each full charge-discharge cycle reduces internal resistance and the cutouts become less frequent. If shutoffs persist past cycle 10, check that the cell is reaching at least 8.2V at full charge before starting a session.
