Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mindray Umec10 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LI23S005A)
This 11.1V, 6400mAh (71.04Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces part number LI23S005A in the Mindray Umec10 portable patient monitor. It fits the Umec10's battery bay directly and matches the original voltage rail the device expects. Cell chemistry is Li-ion, matching the charge profile the Umec10's charge IC is calibrated for.
- Umec10 battery bay fit: The Umec10 uses a single-bay pack at 11.1V nominal. The BMS in this pack communicates state-of-charge data back to the monitor via the same SMBus lines as the original LI23S005A. No connector modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and load discharge on the Umec10 platform. The BMS reported accurate state-of-charge at each 10% interval, and the low-battery threshold triggered at the correct voltage without premature cutoff.
- Post-swap self-test requirement: After installation, let the Umec10 complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The monitor runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this window creates a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.
Why the Umec10 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Umec10's BMS uses stored calibration data from the previous cell to set its state-of-charge baseline. A new pack with no cycle history doesn't match those stored parameters, so the monitor flags it as low even when the cells are full. Running one complete charge-to-discharge cycle lets the BMS recalibrate its capacity estimate against the new cell's actual behaviour. After that first full cycle, the alarm clears and state-of-charge reporting tracks correctly.
Umec10 will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage dropped below approximately 9V per cell group, the Umec10's BMS enters deep-discharge protection and blocks output entirely — the monitor shows nothing when you press power. Connect the pack to the Umec10 on mains power and leave it charging for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on. This allows the charge IC to trickle-charge the cells above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 10.5V, at which point normal charging and boot resume.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Umec10 is showing a low battery warning right after I charged the new LI23S005A replacement — did I get a faulty pack?
Almost certainly not a faulty pack. The Umec10's BMS compares the new cell's state-of-charge against calibration data from the old battery, and without a match it defaults to a low-battery flag. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle on the monitor before treating it as a fault. After that cycle completes, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.
My Umec10 shuts off unexpectedly during a patient monitoring session — the battery was showing above 50% charge.
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first several cycles, which causes voltage sag under the Umec10's monitoring load. If the instantaneous voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold during a high-draw event, the device shuts off even though the displayed state-of-charge looks healthy. This behaviour improves after 8–10 full cycles as the cells condition and internal resistance drops. Until then, keep the monitor on mains power for clinical sessions where interruption is not acceptable.
The charge indicator on my Umec10 never reaches 100% — it stops at around 95% and stays there on the first charge.
The Umec10's charge IC applies a conservative termination current on an unrecognised cell to avoid overcharging a pack it hasn't characterised yet. This is normal on the first charge and does not indicate a capacity problem. Disconnect the charger once it stalls, power the monitor on battery until the low-battery warning appears, then charge again from flat. After one full cycle the charge IC adjusts its termination threshold and subsequent charges reach 100%.
