Fits Mio cyclo 505 HC and cyclo 500 HC dashcams; replaces OEM battery BP-DG500-11/1500 MX.
3.7V 1100mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 4.07Wh to sustain continuous recording and parking mode operation.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot with retention tab — no adhesive required.
We tested the cell on a Mio cyclo 505 HC bench unit; BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes on first charge cycle.
After installation, run one complete drive cycle before relying on parking mode — the dashcam's capacitor management needs to calibrate against the fresh cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mio Cyclo 505 HC / 500 HC — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-DG500-11/1500 MX)

This is a 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion cell for the Mio Cyclo 505 HC and Cyclo 500 HC dashcams. It replaces the internal battery that powers the unit between drives and keeps parking mode running after the engine stops. Capacity matches the original at 1100mAh (4.07Wh).

  • Cyclo 505 HC and 500 HC fit: Both models share the same internal battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol — the same 50 x 35 x 6mm cell powers both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Cyclo platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold before cell damage could occur.
  • First-cycle parking mode calibration: After installing a new cell, complete one full drive cycle with the dashcam connected to power before relying on parking mode. The capacitor management system calibrates its parking mode duration estimate against the new cell during that first full charge.

Why the Cyclo 505 HC stops recording mid-parking session

Parking mode draws continuously from the internal battery with no engine charging input. A degraded cell drops below the BMS cutoff voltage faster than expected, ending the recording session early. The BMS on this unit cuts power at approximately 3.0V to protect the cell — once that threshold is hit, recording stops immediately. A fresh cell at full 1100mAh capacity restores the full parking mode window the unit was calibrated for.

Footage corrupt or missing after power interruption

When the internal battery sags under load, the dashcam can lose power mid-write, leaving the last video file incomplete or unreadable. The Cyclo 505 HC writes footage in segments, but a sudden voltage drop bypasses the normal file-close routine. This is most common with a battery that reads as charged but collapses under the sustained draw of active recording. Replacing the cell eliminates the voltage sag — check that the new battery reaches a full 4.2V after the first charge cycle before relying on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Mio Cyclo 505 HC won't turn on when I start the engine — it just sits there with a black screen.

This usually means the internal battery has discharged too deeply for the unit to boot on its own. Connect the dashcam to a USB power source or hardwire kit and leave it for at least 15 minutes — the BMS needs a trickle charge to recover enough voltage before the unit will initialise. If the screen stays black after that charge window, the cell has failed and needs replacement. A healthy cell should read at least 3.6V at rest before the unit will power on normally.

The Cyclo 505 HC gets noticeably warm after a parking mode session — is that a problem with the new battery?

Sustained recording in a sealed housing concentrates heat, and the internal battery absorbs some of that thermal load during a long parking mode session. Some warmth is normal, but if the unit is hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the dashcam is not positioned in direct sunlight on a hot day — ambient temperature inside a parked car can push the cell above its safe operating range. A correctly functioning cell will not generate excess heat on its own; heat that builds after the new battery is fitted is almost always environmental. Mount the unit in a shaded position and confirm the housing vents are not blocked.

My parking mode recordings keep cutting short — the new battery is installed but sessions still end after only a few minutes.

The first one or two parking mode sessions after a new cell installation will often run shorter than expected. The dashcam's capacitor management system has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual capacity curve. Complete at least one full drive with the dashcam powered via the hardwire kit — this lets the unit charge the new cell fully and log its baseline capacity. After that conditioning drive, parking mode duration should reflect the full 1100mAh capacity the cell is rated for.
