Plug in the charger, leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, then run it down to hibernate-cutoff once. Windows is showing 47Wh capacity in system info but the battery is rated 73.26Wh — is the cell faulty?
It's not a faulty cell. The Wh figure shown in system info pulls from the EEPROM's rated capacity register, which on a new replacement may contain a factory default value that doesn't match the actual chemistry. The fuel gauge IC updates that register after calibration cycles. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles and the reported Wh figure will converge toward the actual 73.26Wh rating.
New battery charges fine but the MiNote stops at 80% and won't go higher — is charge limiting on by default?
Check the Mitac or system OEM power management utility first — some BIOS builds ship with a charge ceiling set at 80% to reduce cell stress during AC-only use. Open the BIOS setup (F2 at POST on most MiNote models), navigate to the Power or Battery section, and disable the charge limit if one is set. If no BIOS option exists, check for a Mitac battery manager application in Windows that controls the same threshold.
