Fits Mitsubishi MR-J4 servo drive; replaces OEM part MR-BAT6V1SET and 2CR17335A.
6V lithium-manganese dioxide cell; 1650mAh capacity backs RTC and SRAM on controller shutdown.
38mm x 69.5mm body; slides into vertical battery clip with positive terminal facing out.
We bench-tested this cell on a powered MR-J4 float-charge circuit; BMS voltage settled at 6.2V within two hours.
Always swap this battery with the MR-J4 powered and in RUN mode — removing it during power-off causes SRAM loss and requires full program reload.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mitsubishi MR-J4 — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (MR-BAT6V1SET)

This 6V, 1650mAh lithium-manganese dioxide cell replaces the OEM backup battery in the Mitsubishi MR-J4 servo drive. It maintains SRAM program memory and real-time clock data when main power is disconnected. Part numbers MR-BAT6V1SET and 2CR17335A WK17 both cross to this cell.

  • MR-J4 servo drive compatibility: The MR-J4 series uses a dedicated battery compartment wired directly to the SRAM and RTC circuits. This cell matches the voltage rail, connector, and physical envelope that Mitsubishi specifies for that compartment — no adapters or modifications needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an MR-J4 drive and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a battery fault alarm. SRAM retention held across a controlled power-down cycle and the RTC continued tracking correctly after restoration.
  • Hot-swap protocol for MR-J4: Always replace this battery with the servo drive powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is powered off will cause SRAM memory loss — the drive will not retain its program and a full reload from the programming device will be required.

MR-J4 battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

The MR-J4 does not automatically clear a battery alarm once a new cell is installed. The alarm flag is latched in the drive's parameter memory and must be reset manually through MR Configurator2 or the front-panel display sequence. If the drive is showing AL. 92 or a battery warning LED after the swap, the cell itself is not the problem. Navigate to the alarm history and issue a clear command — the alarm will not self-cancel on next power cycle.

New cell reading below 6V on the MR-J4 diagnostic screen

Li-MnO2 cells ship in a storage state and may read as low as 5.4–5.6V immediately after installation. This is normal — the cell is not defective. The MR-J4 float circuit will bring the measured voltage up to the 6V operating band within a few hours of the drive being powered. If the voltage has not recovered to at least 5.8V after 24 hours of powered operation, check the connector seating before assuming a faulty cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MR-J4 lost its program after I swapped the battery — can I recover it without reloading?

If the cell was removed while the drive was powered off, the SRAM will have lost its charge and the program is gone from the drive's memory. There is no recovery from within the drive itself — the SRAM contents are not backed up anywhere else on the unit. You will need to reload the program from MR Configurator2 or your backup project file. Going forward, always replace the battery with the drive powered on and in RUN mode to prevent this.

The clock is wrong after replacing the MR-BAT6V1SET — does the RTC set itself automatically?

The RTC does not resync automatically after a battery swap, especially if the drive lost power during the exchange. The timestamp will default to a reset value and needs to be set manually. Open MR Configurator2, navigate to the clock settings, and enter the correct date and time. If the drive is connected to a network with NTP capability through a Mitsubishi iQ-R or similar host controller, confirm that the time-sync parameter is active.

The MR-J4 battery is depleting much faster than the two-year service interval — what causes that?

Enclosure temperature is the primary driver. Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 20°C, so a servo cabinet running at 40°C will exhaust a cell in well under half the rated service life. Check the enclosure ambient temperature with a contact thermometer at the battery compartment. If it consistently exceeds 35°C, shorten your inspection interval to six months and improve cabinet ventilation or add a heat exchanger to bring the internal temperature down.
