Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2021 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MD50)
This 3.85V, 4700mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original MD50 battery in the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G 2021. It fits the XT2131, XT2131-1, and XT2131-3 variants. Capacity figure is taken directly from the product data — 18.1Wh total energy.
- XT2131 variant compatibility: The XT2131, XT2131-1, and XT2131-3 all share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers the full production run of this model.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on an XT2131 unit. The BMS accepted charge current without tripping, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge correctly by the second full cycle.
- First-cycle fast-charge tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes energy into an uncalibrated cell.
Why the Moto G Stylus 5G 2021 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The phone's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. After you swap in a new cell, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. The result is percentage readings that jump, stick, or don't match real remaining capacity. One full slow discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100%, forces the coulomb counter to relearn the curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the 5G modem or the display draws a current spike the cell cannot sustain at low state-of-charge. Voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.2V under load — and the phone shuts off even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It is most common before the fuel gauge IC has completed its first recalibration cycle. Run one full slow discharge-to-shutdown cycle, then charge fully to 100%, and the gauge will better predict the voltage cliff before the BMS trips.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during extended storage — this is a protection trip, not a dead battery. Plug into a wall charger (not a PC port) and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the phone will boot normally.
Fast charging stopped working after I installed this battery — the phone only slow-charges now.
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the USB-PD handshake between the charger and the phone's charge IC sometimes falls back to standard 5V charging because the BMS on the new cell hasn't completed its initialisation sequence. This is not a fault with the battery or the charger. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, disconnect, and on the next charge session reconnect your fast charger — the USB-PD negotiation should resume at full power.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — it'll show 45%, then jump to 60%, then drop to 30% within minutes.
The coulomb counter is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve after being tuned to the old, degraded cell. It has not yet mapped the voltage-to-capacity relationship of the fresh cell. Run the phone down to automatic shutdown without plugging in, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging disabled. After that single full cycle, the fuel gauge IC will have enough data to report stable, accurate percentages.
