My H-DL-02 shows full charge but the motor slows down halfway through use — is the battery failing?
That's voltage sag under motor load, not a faulty gauge. As the cell ages, internal resistance rises and the voltage drops sharply when the motor draws current — the BMS reads resting voltage, so it shows "charged" right up until the sag becomes severe. A new INR18650-22S cell has lower internal resistance and holds voltage more steadily through the motor-start surge. If the symptom persists after fitting the replacement, clean the battery contact tabs — added resistance at the connection point produces the same effect.
The H-DL-02 stopped charging completely after I used it in the bathroom — is the charger faulty?
Moisture in the charging port triggers the BMS protection circuit, and the device goes into a locked fault state that looks identical to a dead battery. The charger is almost certainly fine. Leave the port open in a warm, dry spot for at least two hours, then attempt charging again. If the BMS re-initialises, it will accept charge normally — you'll see the indicator light respond within the first minute of connection.
My H-DL-02 battery drains noticeably faster than it did six months ago even though I charge it every day — what causes that?
Daily top-up charging without full discharge cycles causes gauge drift in Li-ion cells — the BMS progressively loses track of the cell's true capacity ceiling. The cell isn't necessarily worn out; the controller just no longer knows where "full" actually is. Run the device until motor speed drops before recharging — do this two or three full cycles in a row and the BMS recalibrates. If capacity doesn't recover after recalibration, the original cell has degraded and the INR18650-22S replacement resets the cycle count from zero.
