Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NextCentury TR4 Transceiver / RR4 Digital Displays — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (CR18505)
This CR18505 lithium manganese dioxide cell is a 3V, 2500mAh replacement for the NextCentury TR4 Transceiver and RR4 Digital Displays. These modules control sensor-activated flush valves in commercial restrooms. When the original cell depletes, the solenoid loses the voltage it needs to trigger, and the flush stops responding.
- TR4 and RR4 platform fit: Both units run on the same CR18505 cell format, sharing a 3V solenoid activation circuit and identical connector housing. One cell covers both modules without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated solenoid trigger events and confirmed the BMS holds stable output voltage through the full activation draw spike — no premature cutoff under normal valve load.
- Post-install sensor reset: After fitting the new cell, wave a hand slowly in front of the infrared sensor three times. This runs the built-in self-test flush sequence and confirms the transceiver has accepted the new power source and re-initialised the sensor calibration.
Flusher activating randomly after a new battery is installed
Random phantom flushes after a battery swap usually point to a sensor that has not completed its power-on calibration cycle. When the cell is seated and the cover is closed too quickly, the PIR sensor can lock onto a residual thermal signature from the installer's hands. Remove the battery cover, let the unit sit for ten seconds, reseat the cell, and replace the cover without pausing in front of the sensor. If phantom triggers continue, power-cycle the unit by pulling the cell for thirty seconds before reinserting.
Flusher not activating even with a fresh CR18505 installed
If the valve does not respond after fitting a new cell, check polarity first — the CR18505 is directional and the TR4 housing gives no physical block against reverse insertion. A reversed cell reads as zero load to the control circuit and produces no error indication. Confirm the positive terminal faces the contact marked with the plus symbol inside the bay. If polarity is correct and the unit still does not fire, measure open-circuit voltage at the cell terminals — a genuine CR18505 should read 3.0V to 3.3V at rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
The new CR18505 is in correctly but the TR4 still won't trigger a flush — what's wrong?
The solenoid in the TR4 valve needs a clean 3V signal at the moment of activation. If the cell voltage reads below 2.8V under load, the control board drops the trigger signal entirely rather than attempting a weak flush. Confirm the cell is a Li-MnO2 chemistry — alkaline cells in the same form factor start lower and sag faster under solenoid draw. Measure cell voltage under a brief manual trigger attempt; if it dips below 2.7V, the cell is the wrong type or is already partially discharged.
The flush valve is activating every few minutes on its own — is this a sensor fault or a battery issue?
This is almost always a calibration issue, not a hardware fault. When a new battery seats, the PIR sensor runs a baseline thermal scan of whatever is in front of it — if someone is standing at the fixture during this window, their body heat becomes the new "background" and any movement away from that position triggers a flush. Power-cycle the unit by removing the cell for 30 seconds, then reinsert it with no one standing within a metre of the sensor for the first 15 seconds. The self-test flush will fire once, then the unit will settle into normal detection mode.
This battery is draining much faster than the original in a high-traffic restroom — what's causing it?
Each flush cycle pulls a short high-current spike to open the solenoid. In a busy commercial facility — 200-plus activations per day — that cumulative draw is significantly higher than the manufacturer's typical-use estimate. Heat also accelerates capacity fade in Li-MnO2 cells; a valve mounted near a heating duct or in a warm plant room will see shorter service life. Check that the sensor sensitivity is not set to maximum, as an overly sensitive setting causes extra false-trigger cycles that drain the cell without flushing. Dialling sensitivity to the mid-point setting on the RR4 display module can meaningfully reduce unnecessary activations.
