Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nightstick XPR-5554G Headlamp — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (5554-BATT)

This is the 3.7V, 700mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Nightstick XPR-5554G headlamp. It replaces OEM part number 5554-BATT directly. When the original cell loses capacity after repeated charge cycles, this swap restores the headlamp to full rated output.

  • XPR-5554G platform fit: The 5554-BATT cell is specific to this headlamp's internal battery bay — the 42.20 × 24.60 × 7.20mm LiPo form factor and connector orientation match the driver board's input circuit. No modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the XPR-5554G driver. The BMS held 3.7V nominal cleanly across all output modes and cut off at the correct low-voltage threshold without triggering false mode steps.
  • Post-swap first charge: After fitting a new LiPo cell in the XPR-5554G, run a full charge before use. The headlamp's driver calibrates its fuel gauge to the new cell's capacity on that first full cycle — skipping it can cause the battery indicator to read inaccurately until the next full charge.

XPR-5554G output stepping down before the battery indicator hits low

The XPR-5554G's driver uses brownout protection to step down LED output when cell voltage drops below a set threshold — typically around 3.2V under load. This happens before the low-battery indicator triggers because the indicator reads resting voltage, not voltage under current draw. High output modes pull more current, which creates a larger voltage sag at the cell terminals. If the headlamp dims noticeably in turbo or high mode while the indicator still shows charge, the cell is near end-of-life and needs replacement.

Headlamp running noticeably shorter in turbo mode than expected

Turbo mode on the XPR-5554G draws significantly more current than standard or low modes — the 700mAh cell depletes faster because total watt-hours drawn per hour is much higher. This is normal behaviour, not a cell fault. If turbo runtime has dropped sharply compared to when the headlamp was new, the cell has likely lost usable capacity through age or shallow cycling. Check resting voltage after a full charge — a healthy 3.7V LiPo should read between 4.15V and 4.20V fully charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

My XPR-5554G headlamp dims in high mode but the battery indicator still shows full — is the battery dying?

That dimming is brownout protection stepping down the driver before the indicator catches up. The indicator reads resting voltage; under load in high mode, the cell voltage sags lower than the indicator sees. A cell that sags hard enough to trigger output stepping but recovers to a "full" reading at rest is losing capacity and should be replaced. After fitting the new 5554-BATT cell, run a full charge cycle so the driver recalibrates its gauge.

Why does my XPR-5554G chew through a charge so much faster in turbo mode than in standard?

Turbo draws several times the current of standard mode from the same 700mAh cell. More current drawn per hour means the cell's usable watt-hours run out much sooner — that's expected behaviour, not a fault. If turbo runtime has gotten noticeably shorter than it used to be, the cell has aged and is holding less total capacity. Replace the 5554-BATT cell and confirm the new one reads 4.15–4.20V after its first full charge.

The XPR-5554G won't turn on at all after sitting unused for several months — can a new battery fix it?

LiPo cells self-discharge during storage, and if the XPR-5554G sat long enough, the cell may have dropped below the BMS re-engagement threshold — typically around 2.5V. At that point the headlamp won't power on even if you press the button. Fitting a freshly charged 5554-BATT replacement cell is the correct fix here, since a deeply discharged LiPo should not be force-charged. Connect the new cell, then place the headlamp on charge immediately and confirm it begins charging within the first two minutes.
