Fits Streamlight BEARTRAP and BearTrap Work Light; replaces OEM part 61522.
7.4V, 5200mAh lithium-ion delivers full output for this dual-mode tactical flashlight.
Connector slides straight into the battery tube with a positive-end-forward orientation.
We bench-tested this cell on the BEARTRAP driver; BMS accepted charge current without throttling on first cycle.
On first insertion, the light may flicker briefly while the driver recognizes the new BMS — this is normal and clears after 30 seconds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Streamlight BEARTRAP / BearTrap Work Light — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (61522)

This is a 7.4V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Streamlight BEARTRAP and BearTrap Work Light. It slots into the same battery bay as the original 61522 pack, restoring output across all drive modes. At 38.48Wh, capacity matches the factory specification.

  • BEARTRAP and BearTrap Work Light fit: Both models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture, battery bay dimensions, and connector pinout. The same BMS handshake clears on both — no adapter or firmware workaround needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the BEARTRAP's driver at full output. The BMS held voltage above the driver's brownout threshold through sustained high-current draw before stepping into protection — cell balance stayed within spec across the full discharge cycle.
  • Two-cell replacement rule: The BEARTRAP runs two Li-ion cells in series. Always replace the whole pack — not individual cells. Installing a partially cycled original cell alongside a fresh one creates an imbalance under high-current draw that can damage the weaker cell rapidly.

Why the BEARTRAP steps down output before the indicator reads low

The BEARTRAP's driver monitors cell voltage in real time. At high output, current draw is significant — pack voltage can sag below the driver's brownout threshold while the fuel gauge still reads partial charge. The driver steps output down to protect the cells and itself, not because the battery is empty. This is normal behaviour. Switching to a lower mode immediately stabilises voltage and restores a usable output level.

Flashlight cycling through modes or flickering at end of charge

When a Li-ion pack approaches its low-voltage cutoff, the driver repeatedly attempts full output, sags below threshold, drops back, then tries again — producing a cycling or flickering effect. This is the BMS and driver interacting at the edge of the discharge curve, not a fault with the light or the battery. A degraded original pack accelerates this behaviour because aged cells have higher internal resistance, which increases voltage sag under load. Replace the 61522 pack and cycle the new battery fully once before field use to let the fuel gauge recalibrate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BEARTRAP turbo mode drains the battery dramatically faster than standard — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — turbo mode draws roughly 5–10x the current of standard mode, so the pack depletes at that same multiple of speed. The 61522 pack is rated for this current level, but physics still applies. Use turbo in short bursts for maximum throw, then drop to a lower mode for sustained use. If turbo runtime feels shorter than it used to, check cell voltage at rest — a resting pack below 7.0V on a 7.4V nominal cell pair indicates the original battery has degraded and needs replacement.

One side of my BEARTRAP battery bay feels warmer than the other after a long run — should I be concerned?

Uneven heat across a two-cell series pack usually means one cell is carrying more of the load due to a capacity imbalance between cells. This happens when mismatched cells — one older, one newer — are in the same pack. Over repeated high-current cycles, the weaker cell discharges faster, runs hotter, and degrades faster still. Replace the entire 61522 pack as a unit rather than attempting a single-cell swap, and check that resting voltage sits between 8.2V and 7.4V before the next use.

My BEARTRAP won't respond at all after sitting unused for several months — how do I recover it?

Extended storage allows Li-ion cells to self-discharge below the BMS re-engagement threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 5.0V for the 7.4V pack. When voltage drops that low, the BMS locks out charging to prevent damage. Try placing the battery on charge for at least 30 minutes using the original charger — some chargers apply a low trickle to nudge the cells back above the re-engagement threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the charger shows no activity after 45 minutes, the pack has deep-discharged past recovery and the 61522 battery needs to be replaced.
