Fits Nortel 4027, 4070, NTTQ81EAE6, NTTQ82EAE6 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part 690104.
3.7V, 1200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 4.44Wh — sustains talk and standby cycles on DECT base pairing.
Connector slides into battery slot with flat contact orientation; locking tab seats flush against handset frame.
We bench-tested the cell on a 4027 base cradle — BMS accepted handshake on first dock, no fault light.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — lithium cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to calibrate the fuel gauge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nortel 4027 / 4070 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (690104)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM 690104 pack in the Nortel 4027 and 4070 cordless handsets, including NTTQ81EAE6 and NTTQ82EAE6 variants. It fits the same battery bay and connects through the same 3-pin contact as the original. Capacity figure is from the product specification — 1200mAh / 4.44Wh.

  • 4027 and 4070 platform compatibility: Both models run on the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion rail with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake logic. One pack covers the full family without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 4070 handset. The BMS held the cutoff voltage correctly and the base station registered a full charge without error flags.
  • First-charge protocol for this handset: After installing the new pack, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before first use. Li-ion cells shipped in partial state of charge need one complete cycle to let the BMS calibrate the capacity gauge accurately.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the 690104 replacement

A new Li-ion cell arrives from storage at roughly 40–60% charge, and the BMS capacity register is uncalibrated. The handset's fuel gauge reads from that uncalibrated baseline, so it reports low battery earlier than the actual cell capacity justifies. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles through normal use and the gauge resets to the correct 1200mAh reference. After that, talk time should match the rated capacity.

Handset not re-pairing with the base after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset clears volatile memory on some Nortel 4000-series units, which drops the stored base station registration. The handset powers up looking for a pairing it no longer holds. To fix this, place the handset in the base, hold the locator or find button on the base for five seconds, then follow the pairing sequence from the handset menu. No factory reset of the base is needed — only the handset-side registration has to be re-established.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nortel 4070 handset drains overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the new battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a cell defect. If the handset sits even 1–2mm off the charge contacts, the base shows a green light but delivers no current — the battery runs down on standby draw instead of topping up. Remove the handset, clean the gold charge contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat it firmly until it clicks. Check that the charge LED on the base changes state within 30 seconds of reseating.

The base station is showing a charge error light on the new battery — what's wrong?

Li-ion cells stored at low state of charge can arrive below the voltage threshold the base expects before it initiates a charge cycle. If the cell has dropped under approximately 3.0V, the base may flag an error instead of charging. Connect the handset to a USB power source via a compatible travel charger for 15–20 minutes to bring the cell above the acceptance threshold, then return it to the base — the error light should clear and normal charging resume.

Range dropped noticeably after swapping the battery in my Nortel 4027 — why?

DECT transmit power in the 4027 handset is drawn directly from the battery rail. When a new cell is partially discharged or its internal resistance is temporarily elevated from storage, the voltage sags under the RF transmit load and the radio backs off power output. This shrinks usable range until the cell is fully charged and has completed one or two normal cycles. Run a full charge, make a few calls, and recharge completely — if range hasn't recovered after three cycles, check that the antenna contact inside the battery bay isn't bent flat against the housing.
