Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Novatel Wireless MiFi Liberate / MiFi5792 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (40115125.00)
This 3.7V, 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Novatel Wireless MiFi Liberate and MiFi5792 portable hotspot. It fits the 65394 variant and related MiFi 5792 units sharing the same battery bay and connector. Capacity figure is taken directly from the product specification — 11.1Wh total.
- MiFi Liberate / MiFi5792 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio both draw from the same cell, so the protection circuit must handle simultaneous load spikes from both subsystems without tripping prematurely.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under combined modem and Wi-Fi load at maximum connected clients. The BMS held steady through the startup surge and did not trip on the combined draw. Cell voltage recovered cleanly after load was removed.
- Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the hotspot in an open, ventilated spot during long sessions. When connected clients are far from the device, the cellular radio cranks output power to maintain signal — that sustained high-power transmission generates heat directly adjacent to the cell and accelerates wear over time.
Why the MiFi Liberate drops connections mid-session under maximum client load
The MiFi5792 runs its cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio from one cell simultaneously. At maximum connected clients, the combined current draw can cause a brief voltage sag that the BMS reads as a fault condition. The protection circuit cuts output to prevent cell damage, which the hotspot firmware interprets as a power loss — dropping all connected sessions. A cell with reduced capacity from age will sag harder and trip the BMS sooner; a fresh 3000mAh cell holds the voltage rail stable under that same load.
MiFi Liberate not powering on after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the MiFi Liberate will not boot if cell voltage has dropped below approximately 3.0V — the minimum the firmware requires to initialise. The BMS may also lock the cell into a protective low-voltage state that blocks normal charge input. Connect the hotspot to a wall charger rather than a USB port, which delivers consistent current. Leave it on charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — this allows the charger to push a recovery charge through the BMS and bring the cell back above boot threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MiFi Liberate keeps kicking all connected devices off Wi-Fi every few minutes — is this a battery issue?
Most likely, yes. Under maximum client load, the combined draw from the cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio causes a voltage sag in an aged or degraded cell. The BMS reads that sag as a fault and cuts output momentarily, which drops all sessions. A fresh 3000mAh cell holds the voltage rail stable under the same load — fit the replacement and retest with the same number of connected clients.
Battery drains noticeably faster when I'm in a weak signal area — is something wrong with the replacement cell?
Nothing is wrong — this is normal behaviour for the MiFi5792 platform. In poor coverage areas, the cellular radio automatically increases transmit power to maintain the connection, which is the single biggest current draw in the device. Multiple connected clients compound this further. Move the hotspot closer to a window or higher location to reduce transmit power demand; check the signal bar count before and after to confirm the difference.
The MiFi Liberate won't turn on at all after I left it in a drawer for a month — will it charge?
The cell has likely self-discharged below the firmware's minimum boot voltage of around 3.0V, and the BMS may have entered a protective lockout state. Plug into a wall charger — not a laptop USB port — and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the recovery charge pushes the cell above 3.0V, the BMS releases the lockout and the device should power on normally.
