Fits Noyes W2003M fiber inspection probes with OEM part number 3900-05-001 replacement.
14.4V Li-ion at 2600mAh supports extended field surveys without mid-session power loss during probe operation.
Connector seats flush into the W2003M battery slot with positive-first orientation and locking tab engagement confirmed.
We bench-tested this pack through five full charge cycles on the Noyes dock — BMS initialized cleanly and held voltage stable under sustained sensor load.
Run a full calibration cycle through the W2003M menu after installation; the instrument maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Noyes W2003M — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (3900-05-001)

This is a 14.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery for the Noyes W2003M handheld fiber optic inspection probe. It replaces OEM part number 3900-05-001. The W2003M is a field inspection instrument used in telecommunications and network testing environments.

  • W2003M platform compatibility: The W2003M draws power through a tightly controlled voltage rail that requires a pack matching the 14.4V nominal threshold and the correct BMS handshake. A mismatched BMS profile triggers an unrecognised-battery flag before the probe module even initialises.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe power-up sequences and sustained inspection loads. The BMS handled the initialisation current spike without tripping, and the pack held voltage within the instrument's accepted window throughout the logging session.
  • Post-install calibration step: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the W2003M instrument menu before field deployment. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings on your first measurement session in the field.

BMS lockout after the W2003M pack sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the W2003M pack drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS trips into a protective lockout state and the instrument shows no sign of life. Standard chargers do not deliver enough trickle current to wake a locked-out BMS from that state. You need a charger with a recovery or wake mode that applies a low-current pre-charge pulse — typically around 0.1C — to bring the pack above the BMS recovery threshold before normal charging can resume.

Voltage dropout causing readings to reset mid-logging session

During a sustained inspection session, the probe module and data-logging functions draw combined current that can push a worn or partially charged pack into a brief undervoltage dip. The W2003M interprets this dip as a low-battery event and resets the active session to protect measurement integrity. The fix is not a reboot — it is ensuring the pack starts the session at or above 15.8V (fully charged). Verify pack voltage with a multimeter at the contacts before site deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions

The W2003M powered on fine, then shut down the moment the probe module started initialising — why?

The probe module draws a sharp current spike at startup that exceeds what a low or partially discharged pack can deliver cleanly. The BMS reads that spike as an overcurrent event and trips the output before the module finishes its handshake. This is not a fault with the instrument — it is the BMS protecting the cells. Charge the pack to full (15.8V at the contacts) before connecting the probe module and retry.

The W2003M won't recognise the new pack after it sat in storage — the screen stays blank even on charge.

Extended storage drops cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, locking the pack into a protective sleep state. A standard charger sees the low voltage and refuses to engage, so the cycle stalls. Use a charger with a recovery or wake mode to apply a low-current pre-charge pulse — around 0.1C — until pack voltage climbs above 12V, then switch to normal charge. Once the pack reaches full charge, reinsert it and the instrument should recognise it immediately.

The battery percentage on the W2003M display jumps around erratically after fitting a new pack — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. The W2003M's battery indicator is calibrated against the previous cell's voltage curve, so a fresh pack with different state-of-charge characteristics causes the display to misread until it recalibrates. Run the full calibration cycle through the instrument menu with the new pack installed. After one complete charge-and-calibration cycle, the percentage reading stabilises to the new cell's actual voltage curve.
