Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Opticon H21 / H22 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BTR0600)
This 3.7V, 3060mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original pack in the Opticon H21 and H22 mobile barcode scanners. It fits the H21 1D, H21 1D Alpha, and the extended H21/H22 family using OEM references BTR0600, 02-BATLION-21, LBP-02, and 2ICP48/65/11-2. Same cell dimensions — 64.38 × 48.96 × 10.42mm — as the factory pack.
- H21 and H22 family fit: Both series share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack covers the full lineup. Swapping between 1D and alpha variants requires no firmware or hardware changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger and wireless polling loads on the H21 platform. The BMS held charge cut-in at the correct threshold and did not trip on simulated burst scanning sequences.
- First-shift pre-charge for scan trigger inrush: After installing the pack, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before deploying it on a pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws its highest inrush current when the cell voltage is near its floor — a fully charged cell prevents a false BMS protection trip on the opening scans of the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Charging docks on the H21 series read pack state through the contact pins on the battery base. Contamination or oxidation on those contacts raises resistance enough for the dock controller to flag a fault rather than begin a charge cycle. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock bay with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the dock is reading the pack correctly and charging will proceed normally.
Scanner dropping its wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The H21 runs its imager and its wireless radio simultaneously during active scanning. A rapid burst of scans pulls combined inrush from both subsystems at once — if the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the radio can lose enough power to drop its connection mid-session. This is more common when the battery is below 20% charge. Keep the pack above that threshold during high-frequency scanning shifts, and check that cell voltage at rest reads at least 3.6V before a demanding session begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
My H21 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what happened?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't completed a full charge cycle can sag below that threshold the moment the trigger is pulled. Seat the scanner in its cradle and charge the new pack fully before use. Once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V, the imager draw won't pull voltage below the minimum and scanning will resume normally.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a full warehouse shift — is that a battery issue?
Sustained back-to-back scanning combined with constant wireless polling generates steady draw through a compact housing with limited airflow — heat is expected but should stay moderate. If the casing feels hot rather than warm, check whether the scanner is polling its wireless network more aggressively than needed, as that adds a continuous load on top of scan-trigger bursts. Reduce polling frequency in the device settings if the option is available, and allow the unit a short rest between heavy scanning blocks.
The new battery doesn't seem to last as long through a shift as our old one did — what affects endurance?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest variables — both draw from the same 3060mAh cell, and high-frequency environments cut available capacity faster than low-frequency ones. Confirm the pack is reaching a full 4.2V charge in the cradle before each shift, because a partial charge reduces usable capacity from the start. If endurance is still short after full charges, check cradle contact resistance — a dirty dock contact causes the charger to terminate early and the pack leaves the cradle undercharged.
