This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. The E600's modem radio and display draw sharp current spikes that pull cell voltage down fast. The fix is one full uncalibrated cycle — discharge to shutoff, charge to 100% uninterrupted. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the shutoffs stop.

The E600 stores the old cell's discharge profile in its fuel gauge IC. A new cell has a different internal resistance curve, so the IC reports figures based on data that no longer matches. After that, the fuel gauge resets its calibration window to the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.
