Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vodafone VPA Compact IV — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (35H00078-02M)
This 3.7V, 2400mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Vodafone VPA Compact IV smartphone. It matches the OEM dimensions at 116.04 × 68.62 × 3.40mm and connects via the same flex-ribbon connector as the factory cell. Capacity is rated at 8.88Wh, matching what the VPA Compact IV's charge IC expects.
- VPA Compact IV fitment: The VPA Compact IV uses a fixed connector pinout and a charge IC tuned to a narrow voltage window. This cell sits within that window — 3.7V nominal, same as OEM — so the charge controller does not reject it on first contact.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a VPA Compact IV unit. The BMS accepted charge without flagging an error, and cell voltage held stable across screen-on and modem-active load states.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting, disable fast charging if available and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The fuel gauge IC on the VPA Compact IV is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle lets it remap against the new cell and report accurate percentages.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the VPA Compact IV after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the old curve mapped to 20–30%, the phone interprets it as critically low and shuts down — even though the cell has capacity left. The fix is a full calibration cycle: drain the phone until it shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one complete cycle, the coulomb counter resets its endpoints against the new cell, and premature shutdowns stop.
Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — and the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. Most BMS units on this platform will accept a trickle recovery charge once the cell climbs above 2.7V and will release the lockout automatically at that point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my VPA Compact IV showing 15% battery but shutting down immediately instead of lasting longer?
The fuel gauge IC is still reading from the old cell's discharge curve, so it hits a voltage cliff on the new cell well before the percentage reflects actual depletion. Under modem or screen load, the cell voltage sags sharply at that point and the phone cuts power to protect itself. Run one full uninterrupted discharge until the phone shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle, the coulomb counter maps correctly to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.
The battery percentage on my VPA Compact IV is jumping around erratically after I fitted the new cell — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC recalibrates itself against a new cell's discharge curve over the first few cycles, and until it has enough data points, percentage readings can jump or freeze momentarily. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — it settles after two to three full discharge-charge cycles. Do not interrupt charging during those first cycles, as partial cycles give the coulomb counter incomplete data and extend the erratic period.
My VPA Compact IV feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — should I stop?
Mild warmth during the first few charges is normal with a new Li-Polymer cell. A fresh cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC pushes slightly more voltage to move current through it, generating more heat than you'd see with a worn cell. If the phone is warm but not hot to the touch, continue charging. If it becomes uncomfortable to hold or the phone throws a temperature warning on screen, disconnect and let it cool to room temperature before resuming — then check that the cell connector is fully seated, as a partial connection raises resistance and heat further.
