Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DMW-BLC12)
This 7.4V, 800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the DMW-BLC12 in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2, GH2H, GH2HK, GH2K, and over two dozen other Lumix bodies sharing the same battery bay. It covers both stills and video shooting. Dimensions are 48 × 36 × 17.10mm — an exact physical match to the OEM battery slot.
- GH2 platform fit: Every model in this group runs the same 7.4V rail, uses the identical BLC12 connector, and shares a common BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full GH2 family without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the GH2 body under combined load — continuous video, in-body stabilisation active, EVF on. The BMS accepted the cell on first install and reported charge state without error.
- First charge cycle on the GH2: Charge this cell fully inside the camera body or the Panasonic OEM charger before your first shoot. The GH2's BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a charge profile — skipping this step causes the indicator to jump erratically from the start.
Why the GH2 shows a dead-battery icon on a freshly charged replacement cell
The GH2 uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate remaining charge. A replacement cell fresh out of the box often sits at a storage voltage — around 3.7V per cell — which the camera reads as critically low or flat. The body hasn't yet mapped its discharge curve against this particular cell. Running one full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera teaches the BMS where the cell's actual endpoints sit, and the icon clears.
Battery percentage jumping around mid-shoot on the GH2 display
This happens when the camera's stored discharge curve doesn't align with the new cell's voltage output at mid-charge. The GH2 estimates percentage by reading terminal voltage against a fixed table calibrated to the original OEM cell. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge slope will cause the readout to skip — dropping from 60% to 20% in a few frames, then stabilising. The fix is to fully discharge the cell in-camera to the auto-shutoff point, charge to 100% in one uninterrupted cycle, and repeat once. After two full cycles the readout stabilises. Target a full charge endpoint of 8.4V across the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GH2 flashes a no-battery warning and shuts off immediately after I insert the new cell — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The GH2 BMS runs an authentication check on insertion and will reject a cell it hasn't yet seen if the terminal voltage is outside its expected window. Place the battery in the OEM charger or inside the camera body and run a full charge to 8.4V before inserting it for use. After one complete charge the camera body accepts the cell and the warning clears.
My shot count drops sharply in cold weather even with a fully charged replacement — why?
Li-ion cells lose usable capacity as temperature falls because internal resistance rises, which compresses the discharge curve. On the GH2 this is amplified by continuous autofocus, image stabilisation, and EVF draw all pulling from the same 800mAh cell simultaneously. At temperatures below 10°C, keep a second charged cell in an inside jacket pocket and swap when the body-mounted cell dips below 20% — the warm cell will recover useful voltage immediately on insertion.
The flash on my Lumix isn't fully recycling between shots since I switched to this replacement — what's causing that?
Flash recycling draws a burst of current to recharge the capacitor — on the GH2 this spike is one of the highest instantaneous loads the cell sees. At lower states of charge, internal cell resistance climbs and the capacitor recharge slows noticeably. This is normal behaviour as the cell approaches its lower cutoff voltage, not a fault with the replacement. Keep the cell above 30% charge during flash-heavy sessions to maintain full recycle speed.
