Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Paslode BID-143 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B-1430L)
This is a 14.4V Li-ion battery rated at 2200mAh (31.68Wh), built to fit the Paslode BID-143 and related cordless impact driver models including the BID-1440, BID-142, and BID-140. It replaces OEM part numbers B-1430L, B-1425L, and B-1415L. The pack slots into any compatible Paslode 14.4V impact driver and communicates with the tool's BMS over the same data line as the original.
- BID-143 series compatibility: The BID-143, BID-1440, BID-142, and BID-140 share the same 14.4V battery rail, connector format, and BMS communication protocol. One pack covers the full platform — no adapter needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack on a BID-143 under repeated fastening cycles and monitored BMS response through motor-start inrush. Overcurrent protection thresholds held correctly and the pack did not trip during normal trigger cycling.
- Break-in on the BID-143: Run the driver at half torque for the first two charge cycles before applying maximum clutch settings. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before you drive it hard.
BMS overcurrent trip on impact driver motor-start inrush
When you pull the trigger on a Paslode impact driver, the motor draws a surge of current that can briefly spike three to five times the running draw. A new pack with a freshly calibrated BMS may interpret that spike as a fault and cut out before the motor reaches speed. This is more likely if the pack came from storage or was first charged without a prior discharge cycle. Running two break-in cycles at reduced torque trains the BMS to distinguish normal inrush from a genuine overcurrent event.
Charger not recognising the pack after it sat in storage
If a Li-ion pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during storage, most Paslode chargers will refuse to begin a charge cycle — the LED blinks or stays solid red with no progress. The charger's acceptance threshold requires the pack to sit above that floor before it will handshake. Place the pack in the charger, remove it after 30 seconds, and reinsert it two or three times — this can nudge the BMS into a wake state if cells are marginal. If the pack still won't accept charge after several attempts, check individual cell voltage with a multimeter; any cell below 2.0V will need replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Paslode BID-143 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough fastener — is the battery at fault?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead pack. The motor-start inrush on a loaded impact driver spikes hard, and a new or recently stored pack may read that spike as a fault and shut down before the motor gets going. Run the driver unloaded or at reduced clutch for the first two cycles to let the BMS profile the inrush signature. After that, trigger-pull cutouts under load should stop.
The impact driver bogs down and loses torque partway through a long run of screws — battery or tool?
That's voltage sag — the pack's cell voltage droops under sustained current draw, and the tool's electronics throttle output to protect the cells. Check that the battery contacts on both the pack and the tool are clean and seated flush; high contact resistance makes sag worse. If contacts are clean and the sag still happens early in a charge cycle, the cells have degraded. A healthy 2200mAh pack at 14.4V should hold above 13V under moderate load through most of the discharge curve.
The BID-143 runs fine indoors but feels noticeably weaker on cold morning job sites — what's happening?
Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which cuts the current the pack can deliver and drops the voltage rail under load. The tool isn't faulty and neither is the battery — it's a chemistry limitation. Keep the pack in a jacket pocket or vehicle cab until you need it; a cell that starts at body temperature holds voltage far better through the first few trigger pulls. Capacity also recovers as the cells warm up from the heat of normal use.
