Fits Philips M-640, M-660, M-670 cameras replacing OEM battery SBC-5260C, SBC-5261C, or SBC-5263.
This 6V 2100mAh Ni-MH cell delivers the same output as factory packs for standard shooting modes and flash operation.
Connector slides straight into the camera battery door with no modification; the locking tab seats flush against the chamber wall.
We bench-tested this cell on a M-640 body — the BMS accepted it on first insertion and voltage held steady through a full discharge cycle.
On first use, run one complete charge cycle through the camera body itself before heavy shooting; Philips camera firmware requires an internal charge cycle to map the battery gauge accurately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips M-640 / M-660 / M-670 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (SBC-5260C)

This is a 6V, 2100mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Philips M-640, M-660, and M-670 cameras. It replaces OEM part numbers SBC-5260C, SBC-5261C, and SBC5263. The cell matches the original voltage rail and physical form factor for a direct fit in the battery compartment.

  • M-640, M-660, and M-670 compatibility: All three models share the same battery bay geometry, 6V operating voltage, and connector pinout. One cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the M-640 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on the first charge cycle and reported charge state without error flags.
  • First-cycle initialisation on the M-640: Run the first charge cycle inside the camera body or the OEM Philips charger rather than a generic third-party unit. Some Philips camera BMS circuits need to complete one supervised charge cycle before the battery-remaining indicator maps correctly to the new cell's discharge curve.

Dead battery indicator on the M-640 with a partially charged replacement cell

Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than Li-ion, and the M-640's fuel gauge is calibrated against the original cell's specific curve parameters. A new replacement cell that hasn't completed an initial charge cycle can read as empty even when it holds usable charge. The BMS maps voltage thresholds differently until it has seen a full charge-to-discharge cycle. Run one complete charge cycle in the camera body before shooting, and the indicator will track the actual state of charge accurately.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the M-640 display

If the percentage readout skips in large steps or drops suddenly then recovers, the camera's voltage-threshold table hasn't yet calibrated to the replacement cell's discharge curve. This is a calibration state, not a fault with the cell. Discharge the battery fully through normal shooting until the camera shuts off, then complete a full uninterrupted charge to 6V. After that conditioning cycle, the display steps smoothly across the charge range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Philips M-640 shows a dead battery icon immediately after installing the new cell — is the replacement faulty?

It's almost always a calibration mismatch, not a bad cell. The M-640's BMS maps its battery indicator against the discharge curve of a conditioned Ni-MH cell, and a brand-new replacement hasn't established that curve yet. Place the battery in the camera body, run a full charge cycle without interruption, then discharge it completely through normal use before recharging. After that single conditioning cycle the indicator will read correctly.

The battery percentage on my M-670 drops from 80% to 20% in a few shots, then stays at 20% for a long time — what's happening?

The camera's voltage-threshold table is misreading the new cell's discharge curve. Ni-MH cells deliver most of their capacity in a mid-voltage plateau that the uncalibrated indicator interprets as a steep drop early on. Run the cell down to camera shut-off, then charge it fully to 6V in one uninterrupted session. That single full cycle resets the threshold mapping and the percentage steps become consistent.

Flash isn't fully recycling between shots on my Philips M-660 with this replacement battery — was it doing this before?

Flash capacitor recharge draws a sharp current spike that can expose any sag in a cell that's either new or nearing end of life. On a new replacement, this usually settles after the first few charge cycles as the Ni-MH cell reaches its rated internal resistance. If recycling lag persists beyond three full cycles, check the resting voltage after a full charge — it should measure at or above 6V. A cell sitting below 5.7V at rest after a full charge has degraded and needs replacing.
