Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Phone Mate 1120 / 1121 / 1140 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Phone Mate 1120, 1121, and 1140 baby monitor parent units. When the original cell stops holding a charge, the parent unit loses its ability to operate untethered from the wall. This battery restores cordless operation to the handset.
- 1120, 1121, and 1140 compatibility: These three models share the same 4.8V battery format, connector orientation, and cell count. The parent unit housing and charging circuit are common across the range, so one battery cell pack covers all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the 1120 parent unit. The BMS accepted the charge without flagging errors, and the unit held stable voltage across the full draw cycle — including the IR LED load during night vision mode.
- Re-pair the parent unit after fitting: Baby monitors on this platform drop their wireless link to the camera unit when the parent unit loses power completely. After fitting the new battery, power the camera unit first, then power on the parent unit and run the pairing sequence from the handset menu before relying on it overnight.
Parent unit draining overnight with screen on
Running the 1120 parent unit through the night with the screen active is a sustained high-draw condition. The LCD backlight and audio circuit together pull significantly more current than standby-only operation. A fresh Ni-MH cell handles this, but an aged or partially charged cell will sag below the minimum operating voltage before morning. Enable the screen timeout in the handset menu so the display cuts out between alerts — this extends usable charge per cycle without any other changes.
Night vision not working after battery replacement
The IR LEDs on the camera unit draw a spike of current when night vision activates, and the parent unit's radio circuit also runs at full power during this handshake. If the replacement battery has not had a complete initial charge, the cell voltage can sag just enough to cause the IR circuit to drop out or flicker. This shows up as a dark screen or intermittent black-and-white image shortly after pairing. Charge the parent unit fully — to 4.8V across the pack — before the first overnight use.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Phone Mate 1120 parent unit won't connect to the camera after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?
Fitting a new battery causes the parent unit to lose power completely, which clears the wireless pairing stored in the handset. The camera and parent unit need to be re-linked manually. Power the camera unit on first, wait for it to initialise, then power the parent unit and run the pairing sequence from the handset menu — it's usually a dedicated sync button held for three seconds.
The range on my Phone Mate 1121 is much shorter than it used to be — could the battery be causing this?
Yes. The radio transmitter in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive — at low or partially charged cell voltage, it runs at reduced power output, which cuts usable range noticeably. This happens most often when a new battery hasn't completed its first full charge cycle. Charge the unit fully before testing range, and expect improvement within one to two full charge cycles as the Ni-MH cells condition.
The Phone Mate 1140 parent unit screen turns on but the audio cuts in and out — is that a battery issue?
Audio dropout while the screen stays on points to a cell that can't sustain voltage under combined load. The LCD and speaker circuit draw current at the same time, and a weak or cold cell sags below the threshold the audio amplifier needs. We saw this on the bench with cells that hadn't fully charged — the screen stayed active because it draws less. Charge to a full 4.8V pack voltage and test again before assuming a fault with the unit itself.
