Fits Polmar DB-2 two-way radio and replaces OEM battery part number PB-2.
This 3.7V lithium-ion pack delivers 1100mAh capacity for sustained transmission and reception cycles on the DB-2 portable radio.
Battery slides into the DB-2 rear slot with gold connector pins oriented upward and seats flush against the locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell in the DB-2 charger dock; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault indicators.
On first charge with the DB-2 dock, if the charger LED stays red beyond two hours, remove the battery and wipe both gold contact strips with a dry cloth before reinserting — radio platforms require clean contact for BMS handshake.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Polmar DB-2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PB-2)

This is a 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion replacement for the Polmar DB-2 two-way radio, using OEM part number PB-2. It slots into the DB-2 battery compartment and restores full transmit and receive capability. Capacity matches the original pack at 1100mAh (4.07Wh).

  • DB-2 platform fit: The DB-2 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a compact form factor — 53.00 x 33.90 x 5.70mm. The PB-2 pack shares that exact footprint and voltage rail, so the radio's BMS handshake completes without reconfiguration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through PTT transmit loads on the DB-2 and monitored BMS response. The protection circuit held cutoff thresholds correctly under both sustained transmission and standby draw.
  • First insertion on the charger dock: New cells ship at storage voltage, not full charge. If the dock shows a fault indicator on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The DB-2 dock requires a clean contact cycle to accept the BMS handshake before charging begins.

DB-2 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new PB-2

New Li-ion cells arrive at storage voltage — typically 3.6V to 3.7V — not at full charge. The DB-2 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, so a cell sitting at storage voltage reads as one bar below full. This is not a cell fault. Place the pack in the charger until the dock confirms a complete charge cycle, and the indicator will reflect actual cell voltage correctly.

DB-2 cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly charged PB-2

PTT transmit draws a sharp current spike — significantly higher than standby draw. If the BMS protection circuit trips an overcurrent threshold during that spike, the radio drops power mid-transmission. This can happen when contact resistance is high due to dirty terminals on either the pack or the radio. Clean the gold contacts on both the PB-2 and the DB-2 battery bay with a dry cloth, confirm they seat flush, and attempt transmission again — contact resistance should drop below the BMS trip threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Polmar DB-2 charger dock is blinking and won't start charging the new PB-2 — what's happening?

The dock blinks when the pack voltage is below its acceptance threshold, which happens when a new cell arrives at storage voltage. Remove the PB-2, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly to complete the BMS handshake. If the dock still blinks, leave the pack seated for two to three minutes — some dock firmware requires a brief contact hold before it registers a new pack. Once accepted, the dock will begin a normal charge cycle.

The DB-2 shows a full charge on the bar indicator but drops to one bar after just a few PTT presses — is this a faulty cell?

This is voltage sag under transmit load, not a faulty cell. The DB-2's bar indicator reads resting voltage, but sustained RF output pulls current hard enough to drop cell voltage temporarily under load. If the bar recovers quickly after releasing PTT, the cell is healthy. If the bar stays low even at rest, charge the pack fully and check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flush — resting voltage on a full 1100mAh Li-ion cell should read at or above 4.1V.

The PB-2 battery sat unused in the DB-2 for several months and the radio won't power on at all now — can it be recovered?

Extended storage can push a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the protection circuit locks the pack out entirely. Place the PB-2 in the charger dock and leave it seated for at least 15 to 20 minutes without interruption — some docks apply a low trickle current to bring the cell back above the recovery floor before beginning a full charge. If the cell recovers, it will accept a normal charge and the radio will power on. If the dock shows no activity at all after 30 minutes, the cell has discharged below 2.5V and will not recover.
