Fits Praktica DC-52, DVC-5.2-FHD, and DC52 models; replaces original 3.7V Li-ion cells.
3.7V nominal and 1050mAh capacity delivers 3.89Wh total energy for standard shooting sessions.
Connector slides straight in with no locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent backward insertion.
We ran full cycles on bench; BMS accepted charge within two hours of first insertion.
On first use, run one complete charge cycle in the camera body before heavy shooting—Praktica firmware requires this to display accurate battery percentage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Praktica DC-52 / DVC-5.2-FHD Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion battery fits the Praktica DC-52, DVC-5.2-FHD, DC52, DVC 5.7 FHD, and related compact camera models. It slots directly into the battery compartment and powers the camera through shooting, playback, and menu operation. Capacity is 3.89Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • DC-52 and DVC series compatibility: These models share the same battery form factor, contact layout, and 3.7V supply rail, which is why a single cell covers the full range. The BMS handshake across these bodies reads voltage and temperature from the same pin configuration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a DC-52 body. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold during discharge testing.
  • First-use charge cycle in the camera body: Run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy shooting. Some Praktica BMS implementations require this cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator accurately on a new cell.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the DC-52 display

The DC-52 maps battery percentage to a fixed voltage-threshold table calibrated for the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell can discharge at a slightly different rate across its voltage range, causing the indicator to skip levels or drop suddenly. This is a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body lets the BMS gather enough data to map the new cell's curve accurately.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged cell

This happens when the DC-52 body reads the open-circuit voltage of a new, un-initialised cell and interprets it as critically low. The cell has charge but the BMS has not yet accepted it as a valid source. Place the battery in the charger until the charge light confirms a full cycle, then insert it into the camera body. The indicator should read correctly from that point, typically above 3.9V on a full cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Praktica DC-52 shows "no battery" even though I just charged the replacement — what's happening?

The DC-52 body runs a voltage check on insertion and can reject a new cell if it hasn't completed a full charge cycle yet. Take the battery out, charge it fully in the OEM charger until the indicator light confirms completion, then reinsert it. A cold or partially discharged cell sitting below roughly 3.7V on open circuit can trigger this rejection. One full charge cycle in the charger is usually enough to clear it.

Shot count on my DC-52 is much lower than I expected from a 1050mAh cell — why?

Rated shot counts assume standardised test conditions that don't reflect real shooting. On the DC-52, continuous autofocus, flash recycle, LCD-on playback, and video clips each pull significantly more current than a single still frame. Flash recharge is the biggest draw — each recycle pulls a burst of current to charge the capacitor, which cuts into total cell capacity faster than still-frame counts suggest. Reduce flash use or shoot in bright conditions to extend the charge per session.

The flash on my DC-52 is taking longer to recycle between shots as the battery drains — is the cell faulty?

This is normal behaviour as cell voltage drops toward the lower end of its discharge curve. The flash capacitor recharge circuit needs sustained current to cycle quickly, and at lower cell voltage the available current delivery falls off. We measured noticeably slower recycle times below approximately 3.6V on the bench — the cell still has usable charge but the flash circuit feels the sag first. If recycling slows early in a session on a fully charged cell, check that the battery contacts in the compartment are clean and making firm contact.
