Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

REA CARD Rea T6 Flex — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V 2200mAh (8.14Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the REA CARD Rea T6 Flex mobile payment terminal. It fits the T6 Flex card reader used by merchants for contactless and chip-and-PIN transactions. When the original cell degrades, this is the direct replacement to restore full operating capacity.
- Rea T6 Flex platform fit: The T6 Flex uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a specific connector orientation and BMS communication line. This battery matches that voltage rail and connector, so the terminal firmware reads cell state correctly rather than throwing a hardware fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and simulated transaction load — display on, wireless active, printer firing. The BMS held within spec under combined draw and reported state-of-charge accurately to the terminal's charge IC.
- First deployment tip for POS hardware: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before putting the terminal into a live queue. The T6 Flex maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap
The T6 Flex runs a PCI-compliant boot sequence that includes a handshake with the battery BMS before loading the payment application. On a new cell, the BMS may not yet have an accepted charge history, causing the terminal to stall or loop at the boot screen. This is not a fault with the battery — it is the terminal waiting for BMS validation. Charge the battery to full, then perform one complete cold boot to establish the handshake.
Terminal reboots mid-transaction during receipt printing
The receipt printer motor draws a short burst of current that can momentarily spike total system draw beyond what a degraded or partially charged cell can sustain. The BMS interprets this as an overcurrent event and trips, cutting power mid-transaction. This typically appears as a sudden reboot right after a card is approved. Ensure the battery is fully charged before high-volume use — a cell below 3.6V under load is the usual cause.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Rea T6 Flex battery indicator is stuck at 99% even after charging overnight — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The charge IC on the T6 Flex enters a top-off mode when a new cell first comes off the charger, holding the display at 99% while it delivers a low-current finishing charge. This clears after the terminal completes one full discharge and recharge cycle under normal use. Run the terminal through a regular transaction session, let it drop to around 20%, then charge it fully — the indicator will read correctly after that.
My Rea T6 Flex won't power on at all after sitting unused in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?
Likely not dead, but the cell has probably dropped below the BMS recovery threshold from self-discharge. Li-ion cells left uncharged for extended periods can fall below 2.5V, at which point the BMS locks out to prevent damage. Connect the terminal to the charger and leave it for at least 30–45 minutes without attempting to power it on — the charge IC needs time to trickle-charge the cell back above the 2.9V re-initialisation threshold before the BMS will release the output.
The Rea T6 Flex gets noticeably warm during busy transaction periods — is that normal or a battery issue?
During heavy use, the terminal is running the display, wireless radio, and printer motor simultaneously, and that combined draw generates heat. Some warmth is expected and within normal operating range. The concern is if the terminal becomes hot enough to trigger a thermal warning or shuts down — that points to the battery cell sustaining high current draw while already partially depleted. Keep the battery above 30% charge during peak periods to reduce the current demand on the cell and the heat that comes with it.
