Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

RGIS RM-1 / 610-190040 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (610-180007-00)
This 3.7V 5400mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 610-180007-00 in the RGIS RM-1 handheld barcode scanner and the 610-190040 mobile data terminal. Both units are used in retail stocktaking and warehouse inventory operations where downtime directly disrupts shift throughput. Voltage and form factor match the original pack exactly.
- RM-1 and 610-190040 compatibility: Both devices run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. One battery pack covers both units in mixed-fleet deployments.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger bursts and wireless polling loads on the RM-1 platform. The BMS held voltage within spec across the full discharge curve and did not trip on combined radio-plus-laser inrush events.
- First-shift preparation for stocktake crews: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before taking it to the floor. The laser or imager draw combined with wireless polling is highest when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS protection trips during the first high-intensity scan burst of the shift.
Cradle contact resistance and charging errors on a new pack
Charging docks used in high-rotation stocktake fleets accumulate oxidation and debris on the gold contact pads faster than most users expect. A new battery with clean contacts inserted into a worn dock can register a high-resistance fault, which the charger reports as a battery error rather than a dock fault. Wipe the battery contact strip and the dock pins with a dry cloth before the first charge. If the error persists, try a second dock from the fleet — this isolates whether the fault is the pack or the cradle.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
On the RM-1, the wireless radio and the scan trigger draw current simultaneously during fast-fire scanning. When an aged or deeply discharged battery cannot sustain the combined inrush, cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum threshold and the connection drops — even if the scanner appears to power on normally. This is not a network or pairing fault. Charge the replacement pack fully before use; a cell at 4.2V at cycle start eliminates the sag event that causes the dropout.

Frequently Asked Questions
My RM-1 scanner powers on fine but won't read barcodes after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The laser or imager on the RM-1 needs sustained voltage above a minimum threshold to fire correctly. If the replacement pack was installed without a prior charge cycle, the cell voltage at rest may be low enough that the scan trigger draw causes an immediate BMS protection event — the scanner stays on but the imager cuts out. Seat the pack in the cradle, charge it fully until the dock indicator shows complete, then retry. A cell reading 4.1–4.2V at rest resolves this immediately.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a few hours of scanning — is that a battery fault?
Sustained scan-burst frequency combined with continuous wireless polling generates real thermal load inside the RM-1's enclosed housing, and the battery pack sits directly in that heat path. Some warmth is normal; it becomes a fault indicator if the housing is too hot to hold comfortably or if the BMS starts cutting power to protect the cell. Check that the scanner's ventilation slots are not blocked by a case or holster, and rotate packs mid-shift during extended stocktake sessions to allow each cell to cool.
This replacement battery doesn't seem to last as long per shift as the old one did when it was new — what affects that?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval are the two biggest draws on the RM-1 platform, and both vary by the scanning environment — dense barcodes in low-light conditions push the imager harder and hold the radio active longer. Also confirm the replacement pack completed at least one full charge cycle before the first working shift; a cell that was not fully topped up before use will show lower capacity on that first shift. Charge to 4.2V, note shift endurance after the second and third full cycles, and compare — capacity figures stabilise after the first few charge cycles.
